It allows married couples an opportunity to show affection with one another.

Only repressed prudes would think that sex and affection must be separated.

I know men whose wives held out on them for 3 or more months and the men became either resentful or went out and found other women.

Are you telling me that if your wife held out on you for months on end, you would still feel affection for her?

Paul says that the marriage due should be rendered. Sex helps to cement the bond between a couple.
