Simon, no need to flatter yourself. The only reason I came back here in the first place was because of a certain posters request, namely Flower, for me to return, no other reason. I could go on, but whats the point in negotiating with a brick wall?

Great points Double Edge, especially about the reparation demands on Germany. That must rank as one of the great mistakes of the 20th century.

    Goodbye Mark Price Troll!

Your son has my deepest sympathies. Hopefully they can keep him as far away from you as possible.

Just kidding, Mark. That last remark, like your post, was just for a laugh.

    Get it?

    Cheers!

Why as an American do I have to be the Suggestion Box for the entire Nation?

I am really quite sick of hearing upon stating that I am American: "Oh really? Americans are fat, lazy, arrogant, and STUPID!" -- What I am I supposed to do, call together a town meeting? "Oh hey everyone listen up, the rest of the world, they have some suggestions for us!"

Last I checked England was no Utopia either. In fact the last I checked there wasn't one country that didn't have it's problems, or house people who had a very ethonocentric attitude. Do some Americans fit those character assments, I am sure they do, hell I even know a few. Should America be a whipping boy because they are the most outspoken. Some would argue yes, others no.

I said this in another post, and I shall say it again because it seems to be the center of hurt feelings and poor communication: BLANKET STEREOTYPICAL STATEMENTS DON'T DO ANYONE ANYGOOD!

So lighten up people. Think before you speak, don't judge a book by it's cover, know that their are exceptions to the norm, and know you're not perfect either.

    Why thank you City.

The fact is that America would have been in the war sooner if we had not been overly influenced by our own version of Chamberlin and Baldwin. It just took us a little longer since Germany was further away from us than from you. The wilfull blindness of Chamberlin is hard to understand. Didn't Churchill calll him "a sheep in sheep's clothing"?

Our people and our politicans were as horrified by the carnage of WW I as were the English and just as unwilling to kill off the flower of yet another generation.

What pisses me off most about both wars, especially the second, is that the French had the largest standing army on the planet at the time and could have ended Hitler's career for him very quickly if they hadn't had the smallest balls in the world. And now they criticize and judge everything that moves. Fuckin' French should just make their shit-smelling cheese and keep their mouths shut.

    Sheesh!!!!

It seems that's the attitude of the rest of world toward us: You have one hand to beg us (for $$$$$)and the other hand with a birdy pointing at us (to tell us "F**K YOU" ).

Now to the rest of the world, Why is it that "if we do something, you trash us badly and if we do nothing, you still trash us badly."?

Same S**t, Different Day: "Damn if we do it and Damn if we don't do it".

Not just that Francois... you also gotta consider the Vietnam War. It was originally a French problem and then, it was dropped to our laps and the French criticized us about our participation in that war.

No. I'll just bash them if they start with their things about America. I gotta admit I love French Champagne, Wines and food.
