I know this thread was just started to get us all riled up. One thing though that people outside of the US fail to realise is that Americans are made up of people from all Nations. So, if we are a mixed up Nation, it's the others countries fault.

Good point lilacs. See the german part of me just angries up the norwigan part of me. My scotch part of me wants to kick the piss out of the english part of me. The french part of me smells funky, and the swiss part of me just sits there and wants nothing to do with anyone. Tho I have a strong urge to build a coo-coo clock someday.

    I'm damn conflicted.

I cannot beleive you have insulted my Nation in such a way, I find it utterly disgusting. Do you see any of us trash talking you? To stereotype Americans they way you just have has shown YOUR ignorance.

We FOUGHT for our rights and our freedom and paid with the price of our blood. We rose from ashes and became who we are out of NOTHING. If asked I would die for my country, would YOU?

This thread makes me want to VOMIT. Mark, my respect for you has dropped more than you an even realize.

No, I am suddenly glad I don't live in Britain, where people have lived like this for decades.

Amen to that! I was thinking about this last weekend as our family was making plans for the Fourth of July. I can't imagine how it must have been for the Britons to live in constant fear of the next attack during the war. I've seen representations of some of the realities of the time in many different films and television programs, but can not grasp how horrible it must have been.

yeap...the original post was a great generalization, although I am aware of more than a few people who may share in its sentiments, if in a less colorful and upfront language. He does voice the opinion of a percentage of the worlds population just as you voice a different percentage with your own opinion. Any opinion that differs from ones own may be considered provocative. I see many inflamed people speaking of being sick of the generalizations made about americans and then continuing with the words 'europeans' or just 'you people'. You are now just as guilty of your own.

And when can we get over the whole 'we saved your asses in the war' thing. Can you beleive i actually had kids yelling that at me in the halls in high school. Can you understand where the notion may come from that Americans are ignorant and arrogant when that's what's being taught to 'their' children?

Lastly, and i've posted this already,I appologize if you've already read it, stating negative opinions about the U.S. should not automatically trigger the label of 'anti-american'. You'd think those looking at ways to improve the country would be considered the MOST american.

Um...possibly what was being reffered to were the IRA attacks of recent years.
