Because that is one of his bible principles. A verse says something like 'he recommends his own love', and 'he sent his own son'. Christians are supposedly his children. Children naturally immitate parents. Supposedly, children of the devil imitate him. See the picture?

True SS, but as my parents have always loved me, they still throw out that 'do as I say, not as I do!' :)

Yah, a lot of parents are like that. Maybe the christian god is like that too?? That would help explain why so many christians are bent.

This reminds me of that old saying many peoples have used "I'm an all or nothing kinda guy/girl"

"WKRP in Cincinnati" Billionaire dies, the will is being read, it's the self centered nephews turn, he listens eagerly to hear what he gets "Yadda yadda, since you've always been an all or nothing kinda guy...I leave you nothing"

    I miss that show.

I think it was Mark Twain who pointed out that no matter what atrocities Christians have done through the ages, and continue to do, they have never been as cruel as their God is, as described in the Bible.

I guess that is a good thing, somehow.

4 Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; 5 it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never ends; as for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For our knowledge is imperfect and our prophecy is imperfect; 10 but when the perfect comes, the imperfect will pass away. 11 When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; when I became a man, I gave up childish ways. 12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall understand fully, even as I have been fully understood. 13 So faith, hope, love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

"but when the perfect comes, the imperfect will pass away" and love will continue, from this we see love is also perfect.

    Windchaser you asked:

So, why did Paul say that Love is not jealous?

i'll take a shot at it.
The problem with talking about love is the same problem we have talking about God. We can say what other things are not a part of love, like irritability or resentfulness and what other things are part of love, like "bears all things" but we can't talk directly of love any more then we can about God. God is love. You could interchange the words love and God in the above quote and it would be equally true.

I believe Paul was forced to speak of love in this way and our "jealousy" is not part of love.

Well, there's good jelly and there's bad jelly. However, it's the toast that really counts. Common sense.

Wouldnt you be pissed off if you made something you treasured, then an inferior thing tried to muscle in, and it would do no good whatsoever, leading to the destruction of what you made.

Logical, I agree that God's jealousy is of greater importance than ours. But you can take your quote above and apply it to a human relationship. You meet someone, you fall in love, you work on the relationship until you are completely bonded. An inferior outsider steps in and destroys what you have treasured. You will feel the same jealousy that God has.

Ok I better make this short and tidy since alot of people love to write down my words then critique it.

True God is mostly the true form of Love, an unconditional Love. God only loves those who are his friends the most. But God keeps track of all the hairs on our heads! He is not partial as well.

Would there be room for any negative love? He wants us to love him since he made all things. Would you be happy if you made something and it didnt care about you or even curse you? Anywho I think It is a big part of Jehovah to be jelouse since he does deserve all our praise and not to worship false gods first or slave for riches.

I know that Jehovah wants us to be happy since he made us well. We could be eating one fruit to keep us alive or have one person we can be friends with.

I am glad we can have one marrage mate in the new system of things. There would be no reason to be jelouse and kill our partner.

Windchaser's post was excellent! The following comments make me feel as if I was systematically being led through a hideous maze wearing a blindfold.........which, I guess (now that I think about it) pretty well sums up my 30 year entanglement with the WBTS............

Plum said: " I miss that show." (WKRP-Cincinatti)

Me too! (And ya CAN'T say "booger" on the air in L.A.!)

    LOVED the Fever Man!

    Hugs,
