They could be right although I see a vast difference between them and the likes of JWs, Moonies and LDS; can you give more information as to why they might think that way? DB74

CULT.
According to the "Sociology of Religion" class I just finished Jehovah's Witnesses would be regarded as a sect NOT a cult. All religions start out as cults, then evolve into sects and then religions. Personally, I don't think these definitions change anything however. Perhaps any of these (religions, sects, cults) could be helpful in some way but also quite harmful. We have the choice to decide how they effect us and others and the power to leave abusive situations.
JWs are clearly a cult. It took me a while, but I got it. Thanks Farkel.
