Picky-Ass Christian thrift store

After my cousin Sharon passed away last September, her daughters in law took all of her clothes to a consignment shop in our area, run by 'Christian' ladies. They turned their noses up at all of her things. Now, she didn't have really great clothes, but they were in perfect condition. They wouldn't take them. So, they dropped them off at Salvation Army, and they were thrilled to get all of them. Who can figure?

By the way, I hadn't wanted to help go through her things and didn't want any of her clothes, but the girls insisted I take the dress she wore to her son, Sean's wedding. They brought it to me, and said I should have it because I made it for her. It still makes me cry to see it in the closet. She looked so beautiful in it. I'm glad the 'Christian' ladies didn't get a crack at that one.

I love thrift stores.......no end to the finds you can pick up.

But I have to say "no" I haven't ever had anything rejected. I dontate to our local Goodwill store. This summer I did a total housecleaning and did donate to a local animal shelter that was having a sale to help build a new shelter though. Half time time I don't care who gets it-just get it out of my house!

TR - I am sooo surprised. They are usually so nice there. And usually have nice stuff...I shop there a lot for the high school drama program. Bummers. Don't think I'll want to shop there any more. Don't like it when a fellow X is treated badly!

I know why the local Goodwill's take ANYTHING. I go by the Goodwill main warehouse all the time. The trucks leave there (headed STRAIGHT FOR MEXICO) looking like VW's w/ a 20 foot boat on top. Oh, they are safe; steel railing and all. But they still rate a ticket for CREATIVE LOADING.

Sometimes I think it hurts too much to see something like that! I often wish I had kept one of my Mom's dresses..but I think it would be too painful.Especially if it was a happy memory. I see home movies with my dad in it and I still bawl. He died in 1987.I find I don't want to look at them anymore. I have a cedar chest that I keep sentimental things in. Can you believe I found my Mom's diary from when she was a teenager! Talk about Crying big time!

We just put most things in a goodwill bag and they just took them..they didn't check them.

I worked in a Bank next to a Goodwill one time. People would leave things in the back by their door. One day someone left a sectional sofa (Nice) . So I went over and told them and asked what they wanted for it. They told me $20.00..I said I want it...fine..I was to pick it up after work.It would be perfect for my son who just moved out on his own.

Well I went back after work to pick it up and it was gone...after much detective work, I found out the girl I talked to had a driver come and pick it up and take it to her apartment! She saw how nice it was and decided she wanted it..I bet she didn't pay for it either! I was steaming!...So now I donate to other charities!

We called Salvation Army a few months ago and told them we had some old clothing and a used TV to donate. When they got here, they loaded all the clothes into the truck, then told me that they didn't take TV's. It's still sitting on the front porch. When I get time, I'll have to find out if there's a Goodwill nearby...
