THE MOST OUTRAGEOUS THING SOMEBODY TOLD YOU

After years of abuse and many dramatic committee sessions and shortly after my desperate-to-become-an-elder husband had left, I came across an extensive psychological evaluation that basically said my husband utilized regression and projection as tools, had a lie scale of 70% according to MMPI, exhibited a lot of behavior that was in the pathological range and didn't have a clue as to what he was about. Thinking this information might help the elders to see what I was dealing with according to professionals (I couldn't put names to it all but I knew he was crazy), I cornered the PO in the back of the hall and asked him if he would read the report to gain additional understanding of my marital problems.

The elder glanced around then asked me,

"Sister ****, did your husband give you permission to show me that?"

Now what the hell did he think, I'd barely discovered it myself from my husband's usually locked-tight office just before he'd left. He wouldn't even glance at the material. They'd often said in committee that they were unable to do anything because my husband denied everything or sometimes said I was the one who hit him and that it was my word against his and yet the PO wouldn't even hazard a glance.

That was the last straw for me. I checked out.

You can't eat Count Chocula cereal because vampires are demonic. (Thanks, mom.)

Satan invented the Internet. (Thanks again, mom.)

And my favorite: When I was df'ed, some loving sister told my 6-year-old daughter that if I died, I wasn't ever coming back.

The most OUTRAGEOUS thing well there are a few...

    1) That I was not being a "good" and obedient daughter ( I was told this by an Elder) because if I was a better daughter, my mother would not have to "discipline me" so vigoriously.

    2) When I turned to a Sister for help, she started to.. then backed off b/c she could not have a d/f person near her or confront her ( ie. my mom) and would I please go from her house and take my mom w/ me.

Gee thanks, Sister Leach.. your support during a particularly vicious beating was so loving. You could of picked up the phone and called the police, but then of course you may of brought reproach on Jehovah's Kingdom.

    3) I was told by a brother that the "New Earth" is going to be ..get this .. On the MOON !???

    4) During a particular conversation .. ( b/fore a wedding of a Elders Daughter .) they gave the big talk on how men have these "ANIMAL" urges.. and how we as women must gracefully submit.

That the most liked elder at our hall (aged 56) had had sex with and run away with my 17 year old best friend. I thought they were going on the ministry a lot together...doh.

By the way, he got a divorce from his 1st wife and married her. They're now happily back in the "Truth".

I was an MS at the time, some years ago, and CO Jack Thomas asked me how long I had been in the truth. I said, I was raised in the truth. He asked me, Are you keeping your field service time low in order to avoid becoming an elder?
I said no, that I had a lot of things I was working on in my life. (I am a recovering addict, many years clean, but I take things carefully).
He said, Well, if you are (keeping service low to avoid becoming an elder), you might as well wash it up.
What this CO used to say was unbelievable. After the info on wife beating, he said Now this does NOT mean that if your husband slaps you around that you can go running to the elders. Of course, that is exactly what it does mean.
He said what will happen to unbaptized ones (teens and up) at armageddon? He looked out at us and drew a line across his throat, the sign of death. I know several in our cong who rushed to get baptized after that.
I could go on for hours about that guy, the stories would curl your hair.

Being told by a Pentecostalist woman that I would be fried in the Great Frying Pan of God.

Being told by a Pentecostalist woman that we did not sing at our meetings.

Being told by a Pentecostalist man that we did not pray at our meetings.

Being told by many that I do not believe in Jesus.

Being told by some people that I believe that Jesus walks the earth right now.

Being told by a Pentecostalist man that I believe not in the Bible, but in 7 books.

Being told by quite a few that I will burn in hell.

Being told by my father that I was better off as a drug addict, because for them there is hope of quitting.

Being told by a Pentecostalist man that Satan's Evil Look was staring at him thru my eyes.

Being told by a Pentecostalist youth friend of mine that he would soon get a van, because he had prayed to Jesus for one.

Being told by the parent of one of my son's classmates that it was no wonder my son turned a drug addict, since I was his father.

Oh, there are many horrible things I've been told while being a Witness.

We had a speaker once that explained that once the earth was filled up with people in the new order that we would become space travelers and start inhabiting other planets. Every public talk after that for the next six months had a reference to becoming space travelers.

Here is another bizarre statement. I remember going to one of the terror movies of the early 70's, I think it was Earthquake, with a group of young witness kids. Our chaperone told us to watch the movie closely because this is god's way of preparing us for what we are going to face in the grate tribulation.
