ref...I mentioned I had travelling dreams and most times they do diverge, but I usually end up doing something more odd than the original destination, as if I knew there was one!...I think they go somewhere when I go back and think of them and the people that were in them. So maybe I'm trying to say that your final reaction to whatever your dream entails, is the destination. However, there's nothing like living on an emergency vehicle thoroughfare and being awoke by the sounds of a siren just before landing the biggest fish you ever saw, or jumping off the planet, or getting your game on, or actually having fun w/your family, etc... the last one a dream indeed!

    Sincerely,

Again you throw a switch in memory...

..." being awoke by the sounds of a siren just before landing the biggest fish you ever saw, or jumping off the planet, or getting your game on,".....

this happens to me all the time too. I cant tell you how many times, especially in sex dreams, Ive been woken up by the alarm clock just as I am about to enter the rose garden. It is almost as though, unconsciously, my brain knows what time it is, and designs to get down to the business end of plowing the fertile field just seconds before the alarm clock goes off.

my dreams are always very vivid, detailed and colorful. i started writing them down, the ones i remember. in fact i keep my notepad by my bed and i start entering the dreams as soon as i awaken. here's some that i saved. the first one is a dream i had, which i documented and emailed to a boyfriend i had. he ended up cheating on me, the rat!

Last night I had a really
cool dream. I don't remember anyone being in it but
me. But I could see the ocean in front of me and it
was a beautiful grey color and the sunlight was making
it sparkle like in that picture I send you a lot,
anyway it almost looked like mercury and I was just
wading into it, and part of me was afraid the undertow
would get me but I kept ignoring that, just wading
into it and it felt so nice and then I saw these
little creatures swimming they were fish but they
looked like kittens and when you picked one up it was
dry and fuzzy like a kitten, it was strange. But I
felt good throughout the whole dream...

i think that dream was trying to tell me something. anyway i blocked his email and he wrote to me with three new email addresses and changed my number and forgot him. and he is trying to get me back now that he knows i am separated again well he can go #$@# off.

the next dream is one i had a few years ago:

I was part of a scientific underwater research and recovery team. Our task was to rescue people living under the ocean in an Atlantis or Biosphere type of structure. They had been living there for 20 years. They were scientists who had been abandoned by their colleagues when it was determined that the biosphere was in imminent danger. There was only a certain number of bathyspheres to go around, due to inadequate government funding, and the people who knew about it took them to escape, leaving the others behind.

20 years ago, the biosphere suffered an explosion, which caused it to descend deeper into the ocean depths, until it was lost from all radar. It was presumed that the Biosphere was lost forever, and that everyone on board was dead. Now, the child of one of the survivors, a HAM radio buff, was purposely sending out signals, hoping someone on the surface would intercept them. All radios had been lost in the explosion, or had been secretly destroyed years ago by the as-yet unborn boys father, a hemp-growing, reefer-smoking professor who had found his underwater Utopia and wanted to stay there at all costs. The boy, now 15, had constructed the radio from bits of wire, transistors and other small electronics found throughout the biosphere over a number of years. His father, the demented ex-professor, had appointed himself ruler of their underwater domain.

On the surface, our team had spotted a faint signal on our radar, and sent a robot bathysphere down to explore. Its cameras revealed the biosphere and survivors, along with their children. The robots instruments revealed that the biosphere was in imminent danger of cracking. These people had to be taken out now or they would surely perish.

We decided it was best to not contact them, but to just go down and get them. The rationale was that we didnt know how these people would react to outsiders, so our mission took on almost militaristic undertones. We descended, wearing high-tech SCUBA gear and toting tiny yet powerful tools, like cool cameras and scopes. As our cams zoomed in on the inside of the biosphere, we saw unbelievable sights. The professor had a greenhouse in which he grew hemp and marijuana. Signs were posted everywhere, saying anyone caught stealing either one would be shot on sight, as it was more precious than gold. Some of the people were quite industrious and creative. A husband and wife team had designed and built small amphibious craft, which could go to the surface and back underwater again. So far only one prototype was built, and the boy had plans to steal it and travel alone to the surface. The craft had its own line of safety features and seats for little children. We gained entry and went inside

anyway that's all i could remember.

recurring themes in my dreams are ones in which i am flying at night, soaring high over black water, looking down at the golden gate bridge. it's all lit up and the twinkling lights look like a thousand stars. other themes are i am in a tall building and in an elevator that goes sideways and upside-down and i'm always afraid to get into it.

For most of my life, I have had little or no recollection of dreaming.(Except for the one where I said the words Garfield Goose and a pack of black hell hounds jumped upon my bed and began devouring me. I had this for about 5 consecutive nights when i was about 5 years of age, but that's another story.[Damn Frazier Thomas]) About five years ago I started taking a melatonin supplement and have had the most vivid and lucid dreams! I can also usually resume the dream after waking, should I intend to do so. Most are pleasant, a few are not, but all are fascinating>

Hehe, I have Most Satisfying and Vivid dreams....

O, seriously though. I sometimes have dreams of things I really want; certain people I want to see. And then I wake up, and discover it was just a dream I will feel so disillusioned.

My dreams are comprised of three catagories:

The house dreams- it's good to know I'm not alone in this one. Unfortunately, my house is either burned down, being demolished or being changed into God knows what. Once i dreamed that we sold our beautiful(to me anyway) house, for way less than it was worth. I woke up so angry and feeling betrayed.

Work dreams-always running late, always under pressure, can't find anything, miss placed the dogs I'm supposed to groom. Make horrible mistakes, when in real life I'm very careful.

Mundane dreams- these are so real that sometimes I believe them. Simple things like a conversation with some one, takes me awhile to figure out it never happened.

Sex dreams, flying dreams, boy I wish!! I do dream in vivid color, though.

The most powerful dream I ever had was the only "lucid" dream I've ever had... A few years after leaving the dubs, I dreamt that my mother, sister, brother and I (these are the 3 members of my family that are still dubs) were sitting around in the living room of the house where I mostly grew up. Everything seemed very dark, and we were all scared; there was something outside the house that we knew was dangerous to us, and so every once in a while, one of us would get up to check one of the locks. So my brother gets up to check the lock in the kitchen door, and actually turns the key & watches the bolt to make sure it's in the locked position; then he turns around to head back to the couch. Immediately I start getting up, because I could see he hadn't locked it again! And sure enough, the door slowly starts to open while his back is turned to it. All I see is a dark silhouette of a man in the doorway; he pulls back his arm and then throws a knife at my brother's back. I jump behind the couch (bravely, I might add )... Peeking from behind the couch, I see the dark man giving orders to my mom & sis (I don't remember what he was telling them to do, but they were running around the house getting him everything they wanted)... Then I stand up out of my hiding place, when both of them are nearby, and tell them, "Wait! Stop! This is just a dream. We don't have to do what he wants. If we just ignore him, he'll go away." When I get them to settle down, sure enough, the dark man leaves... He walks right by me, and turns to look at me for just a sec, and his face is ME except with a goatee

LOL you can ask Freud about all this, cuz...

I notice that all those dreams you recount involve water, the ocean specifically. I wonder what that means. I never dream about the ocean myself, but I do dream about rivers a lot. I am submerged in them and feel the varying forces and pulls of the current. The dream about the trapped underwater civilization is very detailed and strange. I never had such a dream. For a long time I too had a notepad beside my bed and used to write things down as soon as I woke up. The details of the dream disappear very quickly upon awaking. But I havent written any of my dreams down in a long time. Perhaps I should start again?

Sorry I cant comment to everyone, too much input coming in!!

i have no idea what it means. i don't analyze my dreams anymore - i did when i was younger. but i do write them down, simply because it's my mind free-associating and i don't know, it's just kind of fascinating. i don't write down every dream - just "epic" ones like that

i wrote down the first dream because it was about someone i was madly in love with and i always wrote down dreams about him. he was a pisces and we both loved the beach and i always told him he had eyes like oceans, and in the dream he was in the water petting the cute little kitty fishes. all dreams are strange by the way. they don't make any sense. trying to make sense of the non-sensical is an exercise in futility, i think :)

In my dreams of Armageddon, which I still have after all these years, I step outside and realize that something is in the air. There is a thickness and a knowing. I look around me and I always see the angel of God flying overhead and all these streams of white light are rising up in the air to greet it. It is then that I realize it is the prayers of the faithful calling on God. My dreams always end with the angel of God descending to unleash the great war. In a way this dream is completed but in a way it isn't. I always wake up yelling.

I prefer my flying dreams and swimming dreams. They are much happier but they do not have a logical completion.
