Well it seems to me that they are using the names out of respect. Hey, we are the REDSKINS- fear us!! Its not like they are naming some kind of diaper.
But I do agree that Minnisota should NOT be called the VIKINGS. ugh! And they have purple uniforms....just plan SICK.
Personally, I am not offended. My great grandmother on my maternal side was a full blood Cherokee. I remember visiting her in her little trailer in Florida, where she had lived alone for many years since her husband died. She used to call me her little "old woman", and make amulents for me to wear around my neck. They stunk, so my mother always removed them after we left from a visit.
We owe the Indians a great deal, which cannot be replaced. Times have changed. It is so sad that they were ravaged by the white man, but those days are long gone. I am very proud of my heritage and only wish that I knew more about my relatives.
