Hi Hawk,
I was raised a JW...moved out at age 17.
I am curious...you said you did some research when you met this girl..and you were shocked. What was the main thing that shocked you?
My ex sister (I dont consider her my sis any more)Is a hard core JW.
This is her story of the smurfs.
She said one of her friends daughter had like 10 little smurfs. Well they went to a meeting and when they came home and opened the girls bedroom door the smurfs where violently flying around the room....yeah right.
DO NOT EVER DATE A JW....THEY ARE REALLY SCREWED UP!!!

This is what happened with our congregation. Around 1982..this story was going around about smurfs being demonized. The elders in my congregation were telling the publishers to get rid of there smurf dolls. My sister had just received a smurf doll as a gift from her boyfriend a few days earlier. My dad told her that smurfs are dad cause the elders told him papa smurf makes magic potions and stuff. So my dad took the smurf doll and burned it outside in our backyard right next to the spot where just a few months prior...he had burned my playboy collection. My dad likes burning things I guess. My sister was pissed!

what shocked me was the blood transfusion issue...theyd rather die than save their lives......i read the story of Paul Blizzard....about how the society wouldnt let his daughter get a transfusion but the hospital intervened....also i invited her to my news years eve party...a clean party no drugs or alcohol....that kinda worriedn me a bit...however, she was pretty hot...even my best friend thought so

Hi there everyone.
Regarding Dub, I believe it's short for W. Hence Jay Dub is short for Jehovah's Witness. -

I never heard that about Smurfs, about being demonised I mean. Of course I never watched it since it was on Saturday morning and I was being Ricky Righteous out in service. I did hear you weren't supposed to watch Scooby Doo since there ghosts and mummys et al. And comic books. You weren't allowed to read comic books since they were violent. My mom told I shouldn't read them (I did anyway) because the superheroes always had to lie about their secret identity and Jehovah hates liars. When I pointed out that comic books weren't real, I was told I was being disrespectful. Kinda wish I had laser beams I could shoot out my eyes right about then . . . .

im a DIEHARD COMIC BOOK FAN....i even created a *gasp* alter-ego for myself in case push comes to shove with these whackos...I hope a comic book actually devotes a whole issue to bashing dubs

Ha Ha! Hey, wasn't there a Nighthawk character in Marvel comics? It's been so long, and my memory is rapidly fading with age, but I thought there was and he could fly. Man, I just wish I kept all those, they would be worth a fortune now. I had several books back to the first issue; X-Men, Avengers, Spiderman, Fantastic Four. Ah well, no matter I just love rowing with the rest of the slaves and working at night . . . .

yeah there was a Nighthawk in Marvel contimuity. Actually there were two of them. BOth with the name of Kyle Richmond. The Nighthawk on marvel comics main universe was a member of the Defenders. The other Nighthawk was a member of the alternate-earth squadron supreme. He died in battle
