I'm getting a Tattoo, it doesn't hurt, right?

It only hurts while you're getting it, LB. (Someone mentioned Vicodin. Excellent idea. Chase a 10mg down with a cold beer or two and you're set). The pain depends on where you get the tattoo.

I just had some work done to mine. I've had a furled Rebel flag on my right bicep for several years with a banner across the flag that read "rebel" and I finally decided that the banner was too cliche for me. So I had Wild Horse Tattoo re-work it. Now instead of the banner, I have barbed wire. And the barbed wire wraps all the way around my arm. Note: the skin on the inside of your arm is much more sensitive and that part of the tattooing hurt like hell. The outside of my arm wasn't so bad. I go back next week so they can touch it up. The tattooist even said he'd touch up the flag for free even though it wasn't his work.

Gonna see if I can talk him into some more barbed wire tattoo on my arm for a good price, the last session was $150. I'd hate to think what your tattoo is gonna set you back.

Just make sure to let the Vicodin take effect before the tattooing, that's how those painkillers actually work.

Cool tat Trauma. Can I ask what that cost? I never got quoted a price for mine. Just said I'd get together with my son and we'd set up a time for them.

It cost me $100 dollars but took 3 hours, that is cheap because the tattoo artist that did it, is a very close friend of mine. That tattoo would probibly be around $150-$200 normally, depending on what the tattooist charges. Also smaller doesn't neccassarly mean cheaper. A good tattooist will look at your picture and recommend a size for it, because small tattoo's can wash out easily, if there is too much detail in a small area. And yes do not drink, most good tattooist won't work on you, if they suspect you of drinking. Also after you get it done, wash the tattoo 4-5 times daily for the next 4-5 days with anti-backterial soap, don't scrub, and make sure you wash all the soap off. Also keep the tattoo moist, don't wan't scabbing if all possible, we use A&D ointment for that, you can pick it up in any drug stores, use the A&D for 4-5 days, then switch to a high qaulity lotion. DO NOT USE anitbiotic creames etc, like neosporin, these are designed to take things out of your skin, including ink. And avoide pools, lakes etc for at least two weeks. So if your planning any diving in those two weeks, then don't get the tattoo until you won't be diving for a couple of weeks. Oh ya another thing, when keeping it moist, make sure you let it dry out for 10-20 minutes before applying A&D. And don't cover it if possible, oxygen is good for it, it helps the healing process. Also keep out of direct sun light for at least 2 weeks.

So then a normal price would be about 50-70 bucks an hour I guess? I didn't want a huge tat, but I like that particular one. I'll listen to the expert on this one and let him decide for me.

So no diving for two weeks? Man, I'm giving up a lot aren't I? This better be worth it.

No sun either I was told. That make sense?

Ya the sun will bleach it out, and putting sun block on it before it's fully healed, will cause the ink to leach out. On my old tattoos I usually throw a coat of spf 48 on it, if I go out in the sun.

Hey Trauma, I thought it was ok to use Neosporin on a new tattoo. I'm looking at the card I got from my tattooist and one of the instructions says to apply a thin coat of A&D or Neosporin.

You're right about the drinking though. I'd had a few last week when I got my barbed wire and I bled like hell. The tattooist was cool with it tho but he did tell me not to drink before the touch-up next week. (sure no prob, I've got lortabs this time)

Granted, having 'eyeliner' tattooed on your lids is a bit different from what you are wanting to do (nice tattoo, btw), but it wasn't a very pleasant experience for me. Yes, it hurts!

Trauma, I want to suck your toes.
