Dream of Going Back

My mom was reinstated over a decade ago after I followed the advice of an elder and did pretty much the same thing as the August KM suggests (I was "reaching out" and so I was in major "suck up" mode) My mom hardly ever attended meetings after her reinstatement and later told me that the only reason she went back was because she was afraid to lose me as a son.

As professor indicates, what kind of motivation is that? It is nothing more than arm-twisting, and so many df'd people who do come back end up doing little or nothing jw-wise after that, because all they crave and need as normal humans is to have contact with their friends and family....that's why they return; seldom is love for "Jehovah" or the jw religion a motivating factor. Even from the jw standpoint, can't God, who reads hearts, see through all that anyway? What's the point then?

wow, i guess my sub-conciouss has never progressed past high school. I still dream i'm bording the school bus in my underwear and everybody is laughing. Does that mean that my next level of dreaming will be showing up to the Kingdom Hall in my undies?

I still get dreams like this occasionally - dreaming that I have returned to JWdom but just going through the motions. I have had dreams of going to / being at an assembly, regular meeting, service, etc.
In each dream I always have a moment of realization "hey how did I get back into this mess??" then I usually wake up.

I have similar dreams often. I find myself back in the JW's and wondering why I am there. Most of the dreams take place in an assembly type setting.

For the last four years, I belonged to a barbershop chorus. I started having dreams that they had become JW's. Have been trying to figure out just what that means. Anyone got their dream dictionary handy. LOL

I have JW dreams a lot...usually the people whom I had loved so much, the ones now shunning me, speak to me in my dreams but always are aloof, always are distant. They still are having the book study or the field service arrangements in my home too...but do not acknowledge me being there. Its WEIRD.

WOWOW! This was very interesting! I don't recall ever having one dream about the JWs or KHs or assemblies in 12 years! I'm thinking that is not a good sign, compared to what all of you have experienced! :-/

I definitely have dreams, but never about the JWs. Hmmmm...

Some of these were very funny, and some were sad.
Many were dreams of large JW gatherings (assemblies, etc.)
    I wonder what this means???

We need a psychologist trained in dream interpretation to read this thread and give us some opinions. I'm dying to know!

    Everyone, please sleep tight tonight!

I have dreams about that too. I'm at the KH or circus assembly or d'strict convention and at first I am going through the motions. Usually it is some silly attempt to appease my family. I know it won't work and feel trapped. Years ago I was feeling very panicky about it and woke up very upset.

Now when I dream it I find it very stressful and hectic at first. Then I begin to realize that I don't have to do what they say. I don't have to sing or sit through the meeting. I get up and go to some other part of meeting/assembly watching and observing them. I begin to feel detached from it all, and it becomes a lot less stressful. I realize that I can leave whenever I want and they can't do a thing to stop me. I can just get in my car and drive away. They get real upset when I don't follow their rules. I begin to feel more empowered. I actually begin to enjoy the dream as I start to regain control of my life back.

Hopefully you will all get to that place soon if you haven't already.

Yes, ThiChi, I lost all of my friends and my parents. My parents now shun my sister, too. (She got df'd because someone saw her smoke a cigarrette).

Most of my JW dreams are very similar to this, LovesDubs! Sometimes I dream that I am back and still disfellowshipped but everyone has just kind of forgotten. So I am still talking to everyone and being called on at the meetings even though I'm not supposed to be. In reality I was disfellowshipped shortly after I moved away from my home congregation, so no announcement was ever made at my parent's cong. In the dreams it's kind of like everyone really knows but isn't saying anything about it for some reason and they are still weird about talking to me. Creepy!

    Well, professor,

: I awoke from sleep about a half hour ago from a dream in which I returned to the Witnesses

Now, I'm not an expert on this matter or anything, but I would assert that you didn't have a dream.

You had a "psychotic episode." If these things continue, please seek professional help, and I don't mean with window-washers.
