    Hey Gary:

For what it's worth it was a connection u made between your first wife's death and a comment made by the Tower in Reasoning From the Scriptures that helped me to see the real cost of adhering to Witness doctrine.

    Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Gary I feel so sad and angry for what you and your wife went through.

I have seen this happen to others. I could not stand by and do nothing and recieved the anger of the elders for helping a sister who chose to die at home with her family. I could not get people in the congregation to help. I have an idea of what you went through by watching this dear lady's family struggle to care for her and get to meetings.

The insanity of this just amazes me although you would think after living it with someone I wouldn't be surprised. But the lack of love and simple caring always surprises me.

    How sad and how unChristian

I don't always respond to posts such as yours...it just pisses me off.

Thank goodness there are people who have compassion and understanding...sure as hell ain't jw's.

Years ago when living in Alabama, I had opportunity for a job interview that took place with a JW. In the end I was the one who was "blessed." Declined the job, thank you very much, but after 20 minutes with that lady (3rd generation jw) it became apparent that the help she needed would never come from her own religion. I doubt that lady could understand where I was coming from...that it is everyone they condemn who are actually active in serving the community. And I told her so.

While the circumstances were/are heartbreaking...it takes what it takes too get our attention focused upon the good of people...and that would generally exclude "god's chosen." It's sick, sick, sick!

Thanks for all the replies and comments. I had always hoped this was an isolated incident, but it appears it was not.

The irony of it all is this happened when they were treating me good.

    Best wishes all,

    gb

Thanks for sharing your story Gary. One scripture that really stands out for me is James 1:27, "The form of worship that is clean and undefiled from the standpoint of our God and father is this: to look after orpahns and widows in their tribulation....."

I have shared this story before and it's worth repeating. My mother a JW since 1948 got sick and needed someone to take care of her. Did any of the JW friends come forward to help? NO. As an expelled son, my natural instincts moved me to care for my mother. Since my mother was living under the roof of an expelled son, the elders announced that the friends can come and visit her due to her circumstances. Neat, don't you think? Every time I share this story I get dizzy, why? As Paul asked, "...do you the one teaching someone else not teach yourself?" Your story got me dizzy! How can they ignore all the scriptures that talk about love, mercy and compassion?

In reading this I am reminded how an abused wife feels. Most often they are very accepting of little things. They don't even think they deserve anything better or more. They give and give and give only to be told they are selfish and should be thankful for what they do get (that is very little). They think they are alone in their misery

Sadly the borg teaches people to be victims

I am deeply sorry for your loss and the lack of Christian consideration that was shown your first wife.

It's incredible that the watchtower could print an article like that and still call witnesses christians.

A true christian would not hesitate to help his fellow man whether that person had a "goodstanding" in the congregation or not. A true christian would know instinctively that if someone, no matter whom, required aid then they would render that aid in the best way they could.

Unfortunately, witnesses believe that the only aid they need to render anyone is in the form of watchtower literature.

    Greetings Gary,

I remember reading some of that story years ago and wondered how you could, in turn, write such humerous and chipper articles while having such a tragedy in your young life.

JWs are the most selfish, self-serving people I've even known.

Isn't it tragic how JWs can so lightly toss away the loss of a life with their "no problem. There's always the resurrection" excuse? They care so little about death and care so little about life. How much worse could a human condition be?

    my best to you sir,

    Farkel
