Gary, That was a very sad story. It is shameful that "Christians" would treat human beings that way. It's unbelievable when you hear that someone completely ignores the pain and suffering of another, especially when they are "friends" or "family". Well, I hope they got their time in!

Guest 77, I still have to see how aged Witness parents deal with illness and death. I hope it is better than they dealt with wellness and life.

Lady Lee, You are so right. Thanks for your support and comments.

    stichione, Thanks for being here.

Dutchie, I married a good woman from a bad family who practiced an evil religion. I am sorry I have the experience to relate but I think others might benefit in some way from reading it. Thanks for your reply.

Lisa, I am not special. I just witnessed insult to tragedy and wrote about it. Thanks for saying that though.

Farkel, Yes, my request to Delores' relatives for help was no different than if I had asked them to come help us pack for a vacation. At the time I was actually shocked that they said no. Their contempt for decency didn't anger me until much later.

On my humor . . . my experiences didn't sour me on everything, just the JW's :-)

minimus, thanks for your reply. These were not bad people. They just saw unpaid religious literature distribution more important then helping their dying sister and daughter.

Gary......thank you so much for sharing this part of your life with me. You loved your wife, Delores.....

Sunshine Food Markets, Max Gerkin, Neil Jensen, and George Sercil

........and these names, well all I can say is KUDOS to these fellas. May the love they showed to Gary and Delores be a lesson to everyone.

    Hi scootergirl,

These guys and the employees of Sunshine were great. My mother went with me to make arrangements the day after Delores died. No one came forward to offer to help with a lunch after the funeral and after waiting a day, I called a JW woman who was a friend of Delores's sister and asked her if she would help. Her first question was, "Who is going to pay for it?".

She did help and made coffee. She sent me a bill for the coffee.

first of all ((((((Gary- sorry for what you went through)))))

    I have a question, I don't understand something.

I offered to donate a hand built walnut bookcase to the Kingdom Hall as a memorial to her.

    Why would you do that?

Hey plmkrzy, Do you wonder why I would make the bookcase from Walnut wood? Or why I chose to make a bookcase? Or why I wanted to donate it to the Kingdom Hall? Or why I would want a memorial? Or why I would want a memorial to her?

I am happy to answer any of these, or other questions. Just ask me exactly what you want to know.

I can understand everything except this part

why I wanted to donate it to the Kingdom Hall? as a memorial.

If you were to donate a walnut bookcase to the KH as "Just a book case" they would have gladly taken it, for books.

But to build something in rememberence of your wife (a special thing for your wife) why would you want to donate it to the KH or even ask?

Bless her heart! A true friend of your wife's and also yours.

Oh! Okay . . . I was still a JW then . . . at least in my own mind.

It's all okay. I did something better. I'm glad now that they refused the bookcase.
