Yeah seek, dont worry so much. nothin in chat makes any sense anyway once theres more than 6 people in there, just post "LOL" "Bye so and so" "Hi so and so!" and go (((((())))))) every now and then. youll be part of the gang before you know it.

Many times I go into chat and can't really get into the conversation so don't feel bad about it. Other times I have a great time - it really depends on who is in there and what they are discussing at the time. Sometimes you come in part way through a deep conversation that people are intemt on continuing. If you are there when something starts it's usually easier to join in.
Don't give up on it though.

Both posting and chat are completely different forms of comunication and both have their advantages and limitations. I never use chat as I find it the equivalent to walking into a room of 10 people and trying to shout louder than everyone else.

searcher, I feel silly after the majority of my posts, but yours certainly wasn't.
Sometimes it takes a lot of guts to give out your life story like you did. Why not copy and paste it to one of the introduction threads there have been if you really don't want it here.

Actually, chat can be bloody awful at times. I think some people leave when someone new comes in because they can't be bothered to go through all the "Hi" routine. I have actually emailed someone once for leaving, demanding to know what I had done to merit such treatment. It turned out he was chatting from work and the boss had just come in!

just one more demonstration of the fact that you cant afford to be TOO sensitive around a place like this. If you are, youre gonna get hurt, and itll probably be self inflicted. Most people here mean well most of the time.
