Hi Metatron,
Good article. I'd like to add my impression of the "love" shown by JWs. My experience wasn't out-and-out dislike, but merely an ignoring of me and my children. You know, the highly touted "widows and fatherless children." What a load of baloney! There was literally a complete invisibility of us 98% of the time.
But after reading all the stuff about kindly Brother so-and-so volunteering to be with kids so he could be a molestor, maybe I should count my blessings. . .

I remember way back in the '70s, during one of those local needs parts, the PO actually said from the platform, "We may love our brothers and sisters, but we don't have to like them." Personally, I didn't know there was a difference. So can you imagine Jesus giving the Sermon on the Mount and then telling the people gathered there, "I may love all of you, but let's not be seen together since you people smell bad, got bad breath and now that I think of it, I really don't like you all very much."
Happy are those hungering and thirsting for righteousness, since they will be filled. - Mt. 5:6

The HATE that allows a Witness to walk thru their local mall - and feel good
that God will kill every worldly person they passI can't believe I was so callous and unfeeling as to get excited when I thought about Armageddon coming, and thinking, "Yeah, all these wicked people will be gone. That'll show 'em." It makes me sick to think that I was that kind of person, but I was. I feel guilty about it sometimes.
I never experienced real, true love from anyone in the congregation. If they had really loved me, they would still be talking to me.

Hmmmm. VERY good point!
[Although I loved my friend Jann and still managed to shun her for almost 2 years (? I'm sure SHE knows how long) before I wised up and broke the rules... Took her nearly dying, though! ]

I know exactly how you feel. I too feel guilty when I think about the way I used to think about "Worldly People".
If the Witnesses actually had TRUE LOVE, they would still be talking to their Disfellowshipped Family Members, and Friends.
Here is JESUS CHRIST'S example of TRUE LOVE:
Matthew 5:43: You have heard that it was said, "You shall love your neighbor" and hate your enemy;
Matthew 5:44: but I say to you, Love your enemies; bless those cursing you, do well to those hating you; and pray for those abusing and persecuting you,
Matthew 5:45: so that you may become sons of your Father in Heaven. Because He causes the sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and unjust.
Matthew 5:46: For if you love those loving you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax-collectors do the same?
Matthew 5:47: And if you only greet your brothers, what exceptional thing do you do? Do not the tax-collectors do so?
Matthew 5:48: Therefore, you be perfect even as your Father in Heaven is perfect.Matthew 19:16: And, behold, coming near, one said to Him, Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?
Matthew 19:17: And He said to him, Why do you call Me good? No one is good except One, God! But if you desire to enter into life, keep the Commandments.
Matthew 19:18: He said to Him, Which? And Jesus said, "You shall not commit murder, nor commit adultery, nor steal, nor bear false witness,
Matthew 19:19: honor your father and your mother," and, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."Matthew 22:36: Teacher, which is the Great Commandment in the Law?
Matthew 22:37: And Jesus said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind."
Matthew 22:38: This is the First and Great Commandment.
Matthew 22:39: And the second is like it: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
Matthew 22:40: On these Two Commandments all the Law and the Prophets hang.Mark 12:28: And coming up, one of the Scribes, hearing them arguing, knowing that He answered them well, he questioned Him, What is the First Commandment of all?
Mark 12:29: And Jesus answered him, The First of all the Commandments is: "Hear, Israel. The Lord our God is one Lord,
Mark 12:30: and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul" and with all your mind, "and with all your strength." This is the First Commandment.
Mark 12:31: And the second is like this, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." There is not another Commandment greater than these.
Mark 12:32: And the Scribe said to Him, You say well, Teacher. You have spoken according to truth, "that God is one," and "there is no other besides Him;"
Mark 12:33: "and to love Him from all the heart", and from all the understanding, "and from all the soul, and from all the strength;" and "to love one's neighbor as oneself" is more than all the burnt offerings and the sacrifices.
Mark 12:34: And seeing that he answered intelligently, Jesus said to him, You are not far from the Kingdom of God. And no one dared to question Him any more.Luke 6:27: But I say to you, Those hearing: Love the ones hostile to you, do good to those hating you,
Luke 6:28: bless those cursing you and pray for those insulting you.
Luke 6:29: To those striking you on the cheek, turn the other also. And from those taking your garment, do not keep back the tunic also.
Luke 6:30: And to everyone asking you, give. And do not ask back from those taking your things.
Luke 6:31: And according as you desire that men should do to you, you also do the same to them.
Luke 6:32: And if you love those who love you, what thanks is there to you? For even sinners love those who love them.
Luke 6:33: And if you do good to those who do good to you, what thanks is there to you? For even the sinners do the same.
Luke 6:34: And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what thanks is there to you? For the sinners lend to sinners so that they may receive the equal things.
Luke 6:35: But love the ones hostile to you, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be much; and you will be sons of the Most High, for He is kind to the unthankful and evil ones.
Luke 6:36: Therefore, be merciful, even as your Father also is merciful.
Luke 6:37: Judge not, and in no way be judged. Do not condemn, and in no way you will be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
Luke 6:38: Give, and good measure will be given to you, pressed down and shaken together, and running over, they will give into your bosom. For the same measure which you measure, it will be measured back to you.Luke 10:25: And behold, a certain lawyer stood up, testing Him and saying, Teacher, What shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?
Luke 10:26: And He said to him, What has been written in the Law? How do you read it?
Luke 10:27: And answering, he said, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength," and with all your mind, and "your neighbor as yourself."
Luke 10:28: And He said to him, You have answered rightly; do this, and you shall live.
Luke 10:29: But desiring to justify himself, he said to Jesus, And who is my neighbor?
Luke 10:30: And taking it up, Jesus said, A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell in with plunderers, who both stripping him and laying on blows, went away, leaving him being half dead.
Luke 10:31: But by a coincidence, a certain Priest was going on that road; and seeing him, he passed on the opposite side.
Luke 10:32: And in the same way, a Levite, also being at the place, coming and seeing him, he passed on the opposite side.
Luke 10:33: But a certain traveling Samaritan came upon him, and seeing him, he was filled with pity.
Luke 10:34: And coming near, he bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. And putting him on his own animal, he brought him to an inn and cared for him.
Luke 10:35: And going forth on the morrow, taking out two denarii, he gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, Care for him, and whatever more you spend, on my return I will repay to you.
Luke 10:36: Who, then, of these three seems to you to have become a neighbor to the one having fallen among the plunderers?
Luke 10:37: And he said, The one doing the deed of mercy with him. Then Jesus said to him, Go, and you do likewise.John 5:37: And the Father, the One sending Me, has Himself borne witness concerning Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor have you seen His Form.
John 5:38: And you do not have His Word abiding in you, for the One whom that One sent, this One you do not believe.
John 5:39: You search the Scriptures, for you think in them you have everlasting life. And they are the ones witnessing concerning Me.
John 5:40: And you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.
John 5:41: I do not receive glory from men;
John 5:42: but I have known you, that you do not have the love of God in yourselves.
John 5:43: I have come in the Name of My Father, and you do not receive Me. If another comes in his own name, you will receive that one.
John 5:44: How are you able to believe, you who receive glory from one another, and the glory which is from the only God you do not seek?
John 5:45: Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father; there is one accusing you, Moses, in whom you have hoped.
John 5:46: For if you were believing Moses, you would then believe Me; for that one wrote concerning Me.
John 5:47: But if you do not believe his Writings, how will you believe My Words?John 8:42: Then Jesus said to them, If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I went forth and have come from God. For I have not come from Myself, but that One sent Me.
John 13:34: I give a New Commandment to you, that you should love one another; according as I loved you, you should also love one another.

John 14:23: Jesus answered and said to him, If anyone loves Me, he will keep My Word, and My Father shall love him. And We will come to him and will make a dwelling place with him.
John 14:24: The one who does not love Me does not keep My Words. And the Word which you hear is not Mine but of the Father who sent Me.
John 14:25: I have spoken these things to you, abiding with you;
John 14:26: but the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My Name, He shall teach you all things and shall remind you of all things that I said to you.
John 14:27: I leave peace to you; My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be timid.John 15:9: As the Father loved Me, I also loved you; continue in My love.

John 15:16: You have not chosen Me, but I chose you out and planted you, that you should go and should bear fruit, and your fruit remain, that whatever you should ask the Father in My Name, He may give you.
John 15:17: These things I command you, that you love one another.
John 15:18: If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it has hated you.
John 15:19: If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you.John 17:22: And I have given them the glory which You have given Me, that they may be one, as We are One:
