SS,
If you are talking about natural gifts God rains on both the righteous and unrighteous. But supernatural gifts are gifts of the holy spirit obtainable by faith alone (trust in God). So says Gods Word. Believe it or Not.

I'm saying that none are judged by god. No one is special/ all are special. There is no way that god's love of anyone can be influenced by anything bad that they do or don't do. It is people themselves who control how much they get, like they control how much sunshine they get.

I have read of atheist psychiatrists facilitating what would be called miracles. Lawerence leshan, an atheist psychiatrist wrote about it in one of his books. Shamans/witch doctors/medicine men sometimes do 'miracles'. Their beliefs are varied, depending on what part of the world they live.

Year ago I heard someone say "Your actions can stop the Lord from blessing you, but you can never stop Him from loving you"... I think that is true.
Dear, dear Cicatrix, I am so sorry if I have offended you. You have obviously been through a hard time with the elders. Me too. Although not being disfellowshipped at the moment but being 'shunned' ( because of showing the elders all my documents of the Society 's affliation with the U.N.All discussions to me are just an exchange of views and so interesting. I was brought up to have opinions and have no hesitation in expressing them( must be backed up with facts though). To go back to Solomon, Jehovah said if you will obey my rules you will benefit yourself, if not what you sow you will reap, so no problem. By the way, nowhere in the bible does it say Jehovah needs or indeed wants a human organization or a GB. Especially ones who can and do control all aspects of a persons life.
Thanks for clarifying, Lulu.Your comment triggered a knee-jerk reaction because it sounded to me like comments I'd heard before that were prefaced with "maybe you need to be a more submissive wife, pray harder, go out in service more..." you know the drill.Well, the problem was, I let everyone else do my thinking for me for way too long, and now I'm trying to learn to question things from my own perspective. Not easy when you've spent 20 years as a true believer.
???I'm sorry, Paduan, I don't understand. Can you explain more simply for me?
Thanks
Cicatrix
I understand what you are trying to say, Zech., but I'm not at the point you are, probably has something to do with my former spiritual advisors deciding that I have lost God's holy spirit simply because I no longer choose to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
I haven't cursed God or done anything intrinsically immoral, yet they, imperfect humans, have taken it upon themselves to decide my fate.I don't feel like I've "lost God's blessing" just because I have a few doubts. So therein lies the controversy for me.I just really don't think a God of love would turn their back on you if you had a few doubts. Seems to me a God of love would invite you to investigate all you want until you find him.

I think that pretty much explains the unforgivable sin. God gives growth - spiritual growth. When someone is determined enough not to accept perceived truth, they will devise or take on a "word", through which they lie to themself - going against the Spirit who desires to give growth ("it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom") - and so they simply don't accept what is being fore-given - their spiritual health.
It's the "word against the Spirit" as opposed to the "word against the Son of man" which is the "word" in the form of the flesh - the Spirit can continue to give growth even if you speak against the "word" that is in the form of the flesh.
Of course to "say an evil thing" is to tell yourself something that is dark (i.e. foolish / ignorant) - a "word" against the Spirit.
In the early church they forgave anything when truly asked, and very much questioned this saying - although they believed they had received particular Authority to provide forgiveness, according to the bible, they simply considered what they did was right and one day they'd understand why.
I love that - to do what is right when you think the wrath of "God" could dump on you for it - that's courage - and I believe people here have experienced that.
