    Well, Blondie,

It's that time of the year; by all means, get out there & 'hustle' those XMAS NWT's.

I can't wait for my copy of the WTS XMAS Catalog!!!

While they're at it, they can run off a Special Limited Edition of the Pentateuch, with the Judges, Kings & Prophets as well. That would follow the Torah "lineup". How about a nice blue cover this time, with a gold STAR OF DAVID embossed in the front or at least on the spine? The SoftCover edition would go for extra $$ (or shekel's).

For a few dollars more, make it a Hebrew Interlinear. This will do nicely around Passover and Hanukkah!!!!

I no longer "hustle" Bibles, Mustang. The WTS strongly discourages offering Bibles to anyone other than a most appreciative Bible student. No prices are attached to the literature and only donations to the worldwide work are asked form. The WTS is losing money on publications; note the elimination of subscriptions and hardcover books. Recently in the KM there was an article saying that JWs were wasting publications and not showing proper appreciation.

I no longer contribute to the WTS (along with quite a few other "active" JWs).

As early as the second issue of the Watch Tower, in August 1879, Russell stated: "Zions Watch Tower has, we believe, JEHOVAH for its backer, and while this is the case it will never beg nor petition men for support. When He who says: All the gold and silver of the mountains are mine, fails to provide necessary funds, we will understand it to be time to suspend the publication."

Of course, I'm being facetious, Blondie. I was certain that you are "out of the Borg". One of the reasons that I won't go back to the Borg is that I couldn't keep a "straight-face". Those jerx burned my serious side out about 30 years ago.

I do serious Bible discussion with my buddy, the Nuclear Physicist whose father was a lifetime Assemblies Of God preacher. To seriously talk to the brainwashed Dub about anything scriptural, that has a QUESTION MARK attached, is like talking to a fence-post wearing a tape recorder with only a Playback function.

"As early as the second issue of the WatchTower, in August 1879, Russell stated: "Zions Watch Tower has, we believe, JEHOVAH for its backer, and while this is the case it will never beg nor petition men for support. Yes, I quite remember the mention of this. I notice that they have gone into the "begging" mode with all that Kingdom Giving Office business or whatever it is called. They have already broken the "petition" clause, at the least. I doubt that they will UNDERSTAND that it is GAME OVER!!!

Well, well, here we have again the JWs acting like they are using Hoffers "The True Beliver" as their playbook. This particular outrage represents the leadership blaming the victims. They've done it before, as in blaming individual witnesses for claiming that the GB had said that the end was coming in 1975. In fact, they've used this particular dodge quite a few time in their checkered career. And it is one of the most dishonest acts in which they regularly engage.

Blame the victim, and then you don't have to accept your own responsibility for what you've said.

    Neat.

"Blame the victim, and then you don't have to accept your own responsibility for what you've said."

    Francois,

This is a summary of what I term the "OVERZEALOUS BROTHERS" doctrine. Perhaps this is the origin of this practice. It is certain they have recycled it many times afterward:

    The overzealous brothers doctrine/defense/gambit:

"Some anticipated that the work would end in 1925, but the Lord did not state so. The difficulty was that the friends inflated their imaginations beyond reason; and that when their imaginations burst asunder, they were inclined to throw away everything." (Watchtower 1926 p. 232.)

    the proper perspective reply

Of course, having looked at the original quotes, we now understand that the "Some" who "anticipated the work would end in 1925," was really the Society who had lead the brothers to that conclusion. Contrast the statement "but the Lord did not state so," with what they said earlier in 1922:

The original real quote from the WT:

"This chronology is not of man, but of God. Being of divine origin and divinely corroborated, present-truth chronology stands in a class by itself, absolutely and unqualifiedly correct...." (Watchtower, July 15, 1922 p. 217).

the second edition of the CD when it came out changed material to reflect 'new light' without telling the rank and file. I remember figuring this out once accidentally when i got out one of the old books and could not find the paragraph that was on the CD. maybe they are just trying to rewrite their history yet again.

How '1984'! Was it the "Ministry of Communcation" that went back and edited all of the old newspaper articles whenever "present truth" changed in George Orwell's book?

Why is 1951 a cutoff? As I recall, the CD only goes back that far too. I know you can't start going too far back. The further back you go, the more old light you find.

Maybe they just want to give you more to read, thus keeping you busy so you can't come visit websites like this one. And all without taking the time to actually write new stuff.

I'd imagine if they did have any use for, say, the 1951 bound volume, the bound volume would be preferable to the CD. I never liked the "all-text" CD as it didn't recreate the page layout and look-and-feel of the original and loses all the pictures. And after all, the pictures were the best part of the publications. Often during the boring Watchtower study, the only thing to do to keep sanity was to look at the pictures and hopefully get some daydreaming in.

1952 WT QFR..."Is vaccination a violation of God's law forbidding the taking of blood into the system?"...."our Society cannot afford to be drawn into the affair legally or take the responsibility for the way the case turns out.....Vaccination does not bear any relationship to or any likeness to the intermarriage of angelic sons of God with the daughters of men, as described in Gen.6:1-4. Neither can it be put in the same class as described at Lev.18:23,24,which forbids the mingling of humans with animals. It has nothing to do with sex relations.Hence, all objection to vaccination on Scriptural grounds seems to be lacking"............HUH???
