One of the coolest DA letters I've ever read. And I think the elder will actually read it and even think a bit about his own dishonesty in downplaying leaving the religion. Nice bit of writing from the heart.

The best thing imo is to send it to the elders about 2 days after everyone else in the hall gets it. You show how little u think of the elders and you prevent them from warning everyone before they have a chance to read it.

Excellent letter LB. I only hope your son does what he says- After the elders get hold of him-Making him believe he is offending Jehovah by talking to you- even a simple Hello is now out of the question.

Lets know if you receive any flack back

    Cheers!

Great letter LB, once it's sent out it's like a weight off your shoulders, now you don't have to feel guilty about petty little things. When we sent out our DA letters, at the same time I sent the same letter out to at least 10 people in the congregation stating why we left. Your son may in time, if he hasn't already see the hypocricy.

even though you send a letter they may go by the book and want to meet with you. they did so with my hubby and he recorded everything that was said. LOL we think they recorded it too as you can hear screaching from time to time as the microphone (electronic interference) waves pass each other. Jackie

Good Luck to you and your family.

What an excellent letter! If I was that elder, Id be pissing my pants.

1925 "Based upon the argument heretofore set forth, then, that the old
order of things, the old world, is ending and is therefore passing away,
and that the new order is coming in, and that 1925 shall mark the
resurrection of the faithful worthies of old and the beginning of
reconstruction, it is reasonable to conclude that millions of people now
on the earth will be still on the earth in 1925. Then, based upon the
promises set forth in the divine Word, we must reach the positive and
indisputable conclusion that millions now living will never die." {MLND
    97}
1925 "The period must end in 1925. The type ending, the antitype must
begin; and therefore 1925 is definitely fixed in the scriptures. every
thinking person can see that a great climax is at hand. The Scriptures
clearly indicate that the climax is the fall of Satan's empire and the
full establishment of the Messianic kingdom. This climax being reached by
1925, and that marking the beginning of the fulfillment of the long
promised blessings of life to the people, millions now living on earth
will be living then and those who obey the righteous laws of the new
arrangement will live forever. Therefore it can be confidently said at
this time that millions now living will never die."

    LB,

No more pretense, that in itself is good enough reason to send the letter to everyone.

It sounds like your son is already clued into what's going on in the org. If the elder's make a stink, it will be obvious to him.

I liked the personalized tone of your letter. Frank ain't gonna like the fact you pinned the blame so close to home. Maybe the next time he has a 'bible study' he will think twice about telling such lies??? Think?

Please let us know any responses you may receive.

Great letter......... I do agree with some previous postings, that perhaps the congregation, and all the friends that you made, get a letter too, at the same time. Hopefully, in their own homes, they will read the letter, and understand why you needed to do what you are doing. Perhaps it will help them with their questions, but at least they will know where your heart is.

Great letter, LB. I also loved the suggestions from Francois and PathofThorns about sending it to many members of the congregation preemptively a couple of days before sending it to the elders, thus preventing the elders from warning off the R&F.

Plus, having your attorney put in his two cents to underscore your intentions rounded it out nicely.

    Bravo!

Very nice letter. It comes from the heart. I think it was wise not to stuff a whole lot of doctrinal issues in it. They don't care anyhow. It's just a waste of time.

My husband and I are doing the fading thing for now. We still have a daughter and her husband in. We don't want her to have the dreaded elders on her case. Don't know what the future will hold for our family. I guess we will just go with the flow. Deal with whatever comes our way when it does come. I have a funny feeling it won't be too long before we get a little visit by the gestapo.

I hope everything goes well with your son, and your future is full of only good things.

Great letter, and I think you're doing the right thing by DAing yourself and for the right reasons. Better to quit before they can fire you, if you're going to be vocal about it.

Your letter reminded me of a line from my DA letter: "While claiming to be god's sole earthly channel and to speak in his name, the Watchtower Society has made numerous predictions without once being right. What definition of false prophecy does this not fit?"

On the down side, not too many paragraphs of that letter are going to be read by most.

    Well done!
