: Maybe they want to change partaking at the Memorial so that the
whole ceremony isn't such a farce - as well as back away from the idea of 'anointed'
    leadership.

They will HAVE to do that, since most of the "real" anointed are too old to be even continent and the younger ones who "claim to be" anointed are nut-balls or idiots, or both. They need to have new blood in leadership and so a transition from anointed to non-anointed leaders is inevitable.

I think it is explained that BTG no longer has any power over the WTS, in the sense that the WTS believes that BTG put the directors of the WTS in prison in 1918 and they were released in 1919 supposedly miraculously through God's power. Supposedly they were no longer under Christendom's influence and rapidly eliminated pagan teachings like the cross (1928)(that was fast!?) and that no longer could Christendom bring the WTS to a screeching halt, that is not printing the WT and not preaching.

    Don't take it too seriously, I don't.

Blondie, I ment to complete the sentence...

"However, have you ever had anyone explain the difference between falling and being destroyed?"

with the words that makes sense.

They played on the fall of BTG by showing pictures of churches that were converted into recreation halls or restaurants. Moreover, using this as proof that BTG has fallen and soon will be destroyed.

I have an old CD at work but 1997 mentions it 5 times.

I am wondering if with current events if the WTS will be highlighting it more. I will keep my ears open and check my newer CD.

I know that many JWs are still looking for a easily visible fulfillment of that. They are tired of waiting.

Would you like to provide details on why you believe him to be wrong?

You really need to question anyone who is in fine standing in the Organization when they all of a sudden start partaking.

I mean it goes against everything they have been taught.

Thank you metatron for your interesting opening post.

Compared with the literature that was available back during my thankfully brief association that ended in 1973, the WTBTS has learned to some extent to avoid grossly incorrect statements dealing with science and medicine. Of course, the issues of blood transfusions and creationism are exceptions. But even these WTBTS battles are treated today more with "spiritual" (i.e., not subject to disproof) argumentation than with the psuedoscientific bluster of years gone by.

So, I would say that attempts to use scientific argument have become forbidden ground.

"It goes against everything they have been taught."

That is precisely why there are among those who partake today, individuals who fit the description of "anointed". They have proven themselves to be people who love God even in the face of ridicule and scorn by the GB and their brother. Fifty or more years ago it was easy to claim anointing, now it is a virtual test of integrity, of love for God and of their brother.

I have met some of these people and know for a certainty that their love for God and Brother is what drives them, it is what keeps them alive, it is why they live! They are among the finest people on earth, not because they are themselves great but because they have God's Spirit!

    Disfellowshipping

More and more "offences" are resulting in the person being recognized as having "Disassociated" himself. Example: Accepting Blood, Going to a Church, and Voting all result in a person being recognized as having "Disassociated" himself.

I'm sure that with some research other "disassociating" offences can be found.
