This may well be but not always avoidable. After all things were not much different then. So John not only identifies such by name but wrote:

Good information therefore protects us against men such as Diotrephes. That is the other side of this argument. It is our responsibility therefore to determine who doeth evil for our own protection. So lets deal with real data not opinions or personality. It is in our best interest to determine who doeth Good and is of God before casting anyone out of the church.

Amanda are you trying to highjack this thread? My husband had a cat that fetched. My mother has a cat that jumps up onto her walker tray so he can ride on it, when she is leaving the room.

You can condem the action of a person and still love, admire, or be thankful of other things that a person has done. It seems that so many people believe that these two are beyond reproach. Um, I wonder where that mentality came from. And Minimus is taking full advantage of it; Sad.
I believe that stupidity is an action derived from a state of mind. Usually a delusional or ignorant mind. Both have done very stupid things in there life. (Lord knows I have too.) And now both have worked to correct or make amends for many of those actions. So I think that both men can be admired and or condemed at the same time. People need to get over it. (If you are under it anyway.) I.e. Stop screwing with it. Deal with it and move on. Or, bicker and make Minimus proud. Kinda like Jerry Springer. Too bad we don't get to see the ugly dog fights.

You know, some here should have never left the Dubs. You would think that all the blame games, accusations and judgements would have been reputed upon exiting.
Ray was the voice of reason among the other GBMs. You can feel this in his writings then and now. Ray has more courage in his little finger than most of us put together, IMHO.

We had two cats, back when we had the book study at our house, in the downstairs room. During the study, quite often, the cats would find a bottle cap on the floor in the upstairs kitchen, and we could hear them racing around, batting that bottle cap. We called it "Kitty Hockey".
Cute finch story. I love finches and have a bird feeder outside the kitchen, where they meet everyday, and furiously fling the seed all over the place. Mom's cat sneaks up to them, thinking they don't see a BIG white cat. Very entertaining.

I DO have a cat. His name is Grunt. Yes, I am serious. He licks me, on the lips!!!
I also had a cat named Honey and she was raised with a litter of puppies. She was so cool, she used to pant and chase me in the yard, would even play fetch! Isn't life great?!?!?! Then that Ray Franz fellow had to come along and destroy it all with his evil plan to rule the world!
Here is me and Ray, before his evil plot of massive destruction when we took our trip to Mexico a few years back (he's the dude on the right)
And here we are (Ray he is on on the left this time) when we went on our Cruise to Jamacia and the ship's Captian let us pose with his jacket's on!
*sigh* Those my friends were the days...
