If they were interested in making real changes, they would be concerned with more than what their Australian branch can do. Of course, this is only to placate the Authorities in the only country with the balls to call them to task. What happens in other countries doesn't matter...status quo. They will only change where they have to since they don't really care about victims.

Spinks just said that Watchtower will not change to conform to Gov't regulations when there is a clear scriptural principal to guide them that is at odds with the Gov't.

Problem is, Watchtower always says their teachings are solidly based on scripture. When any point of view changes, the new understanding will also be based on solid scripture, so they will say.
Watchtower's understanding of scripture is in a constant state of flux, there is nothing solid about it regardless of claims at any given time.

Spinks ending with emphasising that they're fruitloops but unable to see what an easy way out the commission is offering them on some fundamental issues. The commission seems to be offering them a way just to report to the police, to accept different forms of evidence (which would only be available in proper legal process itself) and so they get their scriptural kicks and children are better protected because to get those extra witnesses elders would need to go to the police. But, no. "We go to prison because the gibbering idiots in Brooklyn decide something, until they decide otherwise".
@ScenicViewer - pretty clear too that the commission is aware that their standards are hardly unchanging.

Spinks implied, by his comments about Korea and mentioning court cases of Human Rights, that perhaps the Royal Commission had better think long and hard before taking this " oh so loving" organization on....
Human Rights..... hmmmmm, what about the Human Rights of the victims???
