Hey Tink, I am at stay at home mom, but would love to work outside the home. A few years ago I was working in the office of my husband's business and loved it. I hate being stuck at home. My dream job is to be a nurse someday, I hope in 5 yrs I can still go. Right now I am busy taking care of the 3 kids and I don't think I could handle the intense study pressure right now to become a nurse. SO my plan is in 5 yrs go back to school. My sister is wanting me to go to beauty school with her too, so that might be something we do together. We have alot of experience because we have done our hair every color in the book and had to figure our on our own how to fix it...LOL

But that would be alot of fun for us, and I think we would do good together in our little town. I adore, doing makeup, my mom was very good at appling makeup and taught me many tricks. I used to put make up on all the girls I went to school with, when it was prom time or some other special occasion. Of course I didnt get to go, but it was fun to fix their faces and hair , I even took my makeup case to school to help with school pictures and other things. If I could make a living doing that it would be too much fun, because it is like an art form to me. Can you imagine doing the face of a star?????????

Hope you find something that makes you happy Tink, and when you do, let me know,,,,, maybe I will be interested in doing it too......hugs Dede....

Tink, are you happy at home?

Does CC like you being home?

I think you have some left over guilt feelings from the WTBTS (they were so good at dishing it out, weren't they?).

I say do what you enjoy doing with NO GUILT FEELINGS. (repeat to yourself, as often as necessary)

Enjoy the freedom to do nothing or to explore other things that may interests you. Money is not what makes the world go round, so quit being guilty and learn just to love life, whatever you are or are not doing!

Best darn cat picture I've seen all day...nope, wasn't me, but if he isn't moving, I do need winter gloves....oh, and really, work is still the one four letter word that should never be spoken by someone who needs a second child-hood - and I personally think that's all of us!

Francois, what's your book about!!!! I'd love to know, and after you get it published, let me be the first to buy one!!!

Somebody, thank you for being so understanding!!! You're right about the whole women's lib thang and people thinking that home makers are lazy!!! It really hurts when people rag me about staying home! It's like the 20 plus years I busted my butt out in the work place doesn't count for anything!!! When I hear little negative comments on me being home, it really makes me feel worthless.

DeDe, just wanted to tell ya that I loved your story about you and your sister doing each other's hair and being every color under the sun!!!! All my friends tell me that they wish I would get back into doing hair and make-up again, they tell me how good I am at it. I wish I believed in myself as much as others seem too. Maybe in time, I'll get that desire back and get back into it. I think the reason that I got so burned out was because of all the personal things that I was going through. My mother was so sick, I was trying to deal with the loss of my dad, my family was in termoil, the whole j.w. thing, and when a woman would come in the salon and complain about the fact that her hair was FLAT on one side after sleeping on it, made me want to knock her up side that flat head!!! I would actually have panic attacks at work that would make it difficult for me to work. I've now found it too easy to sit here at home in my little confort zone and not leave it. Some how, I need to get the courage to get out there and get that desire back, ya know! Like I said, I'm just in a rut, I'm sure it will pass!!! Let me know if you get into the hair and make-up business! I'll send you some pic's of my before and after's if ya want me too!!! When you come to visit, we'll have to play beauty shop!!!

Joy2bfree, I honestly think you are right!!! I think I have guilt about alot of things! My dad's suicide, issues from the borg, when money's tight, I guess it could go on and on. CC told me that he wished I could enjoy being at home and not feel guilty. I do think it goes deeper than that, I do. I think this has been a life changing time for me in many ways and I'm just working through them. Thanks again for being so sweet!

Tink and Somebody, you say you feel guilty because of what other people say. Why? Why let other people affect you? It is your life, not theirs. You are the ones in charge, not them. If they have problems with your life style, that is their problem to stew about, not yours. I say, look inside yourself to decide what is right for you, and follow what your inner self says is right for you. That's what I tryed to do throughout my life, and I am glad I did.

Tink, get rid of the guilt. They are only jealous. They would all love to stay home. If you have enough for what you need in life and pay your bills, you have enough. If that makes you happy, then so be it...........enjoy.

I know you said that you were burnt out on hair dressing but you must have really liked it or you wouldn't do it. Maybe you could use that know how differently. I don't know if there are any kind of rules about it but maybe you could go to elderly peoples homes and do hair. I had an old lady friend who was 104 when she died last year. She got her hair washed & set every 2 weeks. It was so hard for her to get out but she just had to have her hair done. You could set your own schedule, do your own thing. As little or as much as you want. Maybe a couple manicures. Old people always need thier toe nails cut. See what I'm trying to say? You would be doing a great service. Just a thought.
