"No, I left The Lie."
Blondie (What is truth?)
I never could understand if they were using it as a noun, as in ' I have the TRUTH' or I am in the TRUTH', or as a noun as in 'is he telling the truth?'
makes me wonder which one they were using when they say 'this is the truth'
Honestly, I usually laugh. My mother has stopped using that term in front of me because I'd start laughing and shake my head everytime she said it. I only feel sorry for someone when they use that term because I know they are a long way from the "truth".
blondie said it - "the lie"
Whenever we refer to the org. with any of our friends, who are all out, we refer to it as "the lie" and say things like "remember when we were in the lie". I must admit it took us all some conditioining to forget the "truth" term, and once in a while someone still slips up.
Minimus! Glad to see you back.
I find myself saying "in the religion" because "in the truth" is such a lie.I like that expression, "in the religon". I think I'll start using it. No, the "in the truth" doesn't bother me. We all have our own truths. We all have ideas, beliefs, thoughts and outlooks that are true to us. If the Witnesses want to call their religon "the truth", it's okay by me. But having said that, it doesn't make the statement correct or accurate. Until such time as God sees fit to tell us himself, no one call really say what is, or is not, the truth about the Bible. Maybe God leaves it open on purpose, so that each of us can decide for ourselves.

For the record you are the propagandist that everyone loves to read and respond to...Me too. (and, that is not meant as an insult).
To your question. No, not at all. The truth to a cultie is fluid. It all depends on what the leader (ever watch Toy Story) wants the truth to be at that point and time.
For me, the "truth" has to do with what is right and what is wrong. I understand that "humanistic truth" does have to do with my understanding of things. But I look to get all the facts from all worthy sources to make my decisions and to relate my understandings. To quote Einstein "I don't need to be right but, I would like to know "if" I am right." It (my truths) are not about control or issuing/canceling a license to be believable.
A Jehovah Witness will have ask permission to be truthful. A Jehovah Witness could be punshed for being truthful. On that bases alone I am not a Jehovah Witness.
(Maybe a good thread would be 1001 reasons why NOT to be a Jehovah Witness.)

... and the truth will set you free John 8:32
January February or March 2003 might set us free officially, if the rumours we have heard on this board are the truth !
