Congrats and I truly understand your fear and I deeply respect you for taking an open and honest look at the cult/religion. Though I have been out for 10 years, certain fears still resonate with me such as what if I am seen Xmas shopping or taking a toke on a cigarette outside of a restaurant and word gets back to my parents or their associates in the congregation (I was a born in as is my mother, and my father converted when he was in high school). I even delete this website from my history in case my computer messes up (one of my dad's professional skills is fixing computers and he has had to work with my computers to update the anti-virus software and such). I know it was a blow to realize TTATT but you are better for it. I read Crisis myself and it completely opened my eyes. Even though I had been out for YEARS, I was still DEVASTATED to discover that the thoughts that had quietly lurked in my heart and mind all this time had valid roots. But it also freed me from the fear of Armageddon coming in and tearing me from my parents simply because a group of men decided I was not meant to be in their "religion" with no regard to the multiple appeals and letters I wrote (alone, pregnant and scared). Now my life feels better and though I still have fears, no longer am I trapped because I don't buy into that group's thinking and for once I am actually enjoying my life with my husband and our children. It gets easier and you will begin to feel better once you live your life free of their false doctrines. -

Welcome. We loved your story! We have recently joined (lurked for quite a while). Born ins as well.
Crisis of Conscience is a real eye opener!
The one thing that excites us about your story (and others on here) is that so many as they call them, "uber dubs" seem to be joining and deciding to leave. So happified!
We were NEVER "uber dubs". Something has ALWAYS not felt right. Once we started reading the threads on this website and read Crisis of Conscience all the pieces started to come together. Once it all started to come together for us, it would make our skin crawl to attend any meetings or assemblies.
I think what did it for us was the complete lack of love. There is other things as well (a very long list) but the lack of love was the straw that broke the camels back for us.
We have made our exit as a team (taking our children with us). We have enjoyed the freedom. No more conditional friends and mind numbing meetings/assemblies. No more wearing ties and ankle length skirts!!
We look forward to hearing more from you in the future.
Keep smiling and ENJOY every day!!!! It's a beautiful life!!!

Welcome!!
I had to chuckle a bit when you shared your experience at the book store. Only, because I did the same exact thing.
The fear we have/ had is very real, it takes time to let that go.

Thanks for sharing your story. It's scary when you first dare to look "beyond the wall' but it get's easier over time. Glad you are able to access the information you need - there are some great books and resources available that mean no one has to leave blind to the real truth or fearful that they may have made a terrible mistake - I think the WTS has long relied on that meme to keep people trapped within but their walls are definitely crumbling. -

For you and your husband see the truth about the same time is an added blessing for you both , not everyone is that fortunate .
Welcome to both of you ,50 years of brainwashing is not easy to discard in a short time.Don`t be surprised if you have flashbacks from time to time , they will soon pass.
And your first post was a gem ,we look forward to more of your posts.

There is hope for my JW mom yet. She has been a dub since 1970. Maybe one day she will hear something and go online and find TTATT.
Welcome to the board.

Wonderful story thank you. So much in it I recognise, being a faithful pioneer wife alongside elder husband for years. Many of us all owe a debt of gratitude to Ray for that book, it saved my life. -
