Hi Rachel. I can't believe after all these years they want to DA you guys. I just got off the phone with your dad. I wanted some more info on whether or not the elders are really trying to contact all inactive ones to see whether or not they consider themselves to be a JW. My wife and I just want to fade away so we can still talk to our families, but when I read what happened with you, that made me a little upset, like they really are trying to DA people. I felt better after talking with your dad. He has a very kind way about him...must've been all that elder training... Both my wife and I would DA ourselves, but we would lose all contact with our family, and we just don't want that at this time. Anyway, I know it doesn't really matter to you what they do, and that's great. I told your dad we'd like to get together with them after they get back from Hawaii. We hope you guys have a great vacation!!! Don't get sunburned!!

The thing is, that Steve and Rachel's house is not on a street where people drive past to get to another place. They live one street over from a main drag. You have to purposely go down their street. I am sure they were scoped out. But again, it isn't like they were hiding anything. They have had lights and a Christmas Tree for FOUR YEARS!!!!!!!!

Jimbob.........you guys should come to Rachel's party. Email us. My email is the same in Hawaii, and I will have my laptop, so we can send you details. Everyone is very discreet, and will keep your confidence if you want to stay in the background, so to speak.

Can I tell our mutual friends who you are yet? I know they would like to know.

You and Steve are such classy people. Congratulations on handling that so well.

I then asked why we are shunned. I told them that at my grandfather's memorial we were shunned by every elder in attendance. They were both there and knew it. They had both shunned us and were now having to account for it. They said what someone decides to do personally is their decision. HUH? If an individual makes a decision not to associate with another individual it is their personal business. They can't answer for the individuals. Then they said the elder body needs to be united in their decisions. They were very hypocritical at this point but I didn't see any reason to point this out. It was basically over anyway.

HUH? is right! So if an individual decides to shun, that's okay, even if it isn't being united? So what if an individual decides NOT to shun, even after a DA or DF is announced to the congregation? They would be in big trouble I bet! Another one of their silly inconsistencies!

Have a great time in Hawaii! May being finally officially free will make this the best vacation ever!

You and Steve did a good job. While they are there to judge, disrupt and cause harm although you both have been gone for so long, all you do is act kind in return, YUP, 'firey coals on their heads'.

Interesting that they relate that there is now a program in place to visit the inactive, no matter how long ago

This is an international "program" from what I can tell. A family member (still a very active witness) spoke with me today and said that they had instituted this program and that it will be an intense 3 months - some of the elders wives know about it and are already complaining that they will have less time with their husbands.

I will try to stall them if approached, then if they get through I will gladly play "theocratic war" and lie to them. If they get to me the chances are good that I am gone too though.
