    Hi Charles,

I think those were raw fax files... anyway, I managed to capture them and convert them into JPG format, and I just emailed them to you.

The following material is far more than a smoking gun -- it's a flash picture of a gun belching fire.

    Excellent analogy!

They just will not let go of this matter despite encouragement and special needs talks given. Hopefully the friends will leave matters in Jehovah's hands (Pr.16:3) and "show a waiting attitude for him".(La.3:24

    Hi detective,

: Alan please check under the page two heading as it appears you may have left in the last name of one of the victims(?)

I did, because it was left in the original. I attempted to reproduce it word for word.

    Hi Cassiline,

: Why were these girls moved to a foster home? Do you have more information, Alan?

No. In time the appropriate people will bring out more information.

    Hi Chasson and Goshawk,

: In which format are the two scans? (Jpeg, gif ?). I can't open them.

: When connecting to the two links you provided all I could see were control characters and other clutter on the monitor.

They're in jpg format. I just now double checked that they open in Internet Explorer; no problems. I don't know what to tell you.

    Hi Expatbrit,

    : Case closed.

    Exactly.

This letter completely demolishes a number of Watchtower claims about their claimed desire to protect children.

    (1) It is obvious that the concern is not about victims but about protecting the name of the Watchtower organization.

    (2) A grave concern is to cause rank and file JWs to "let go of this matter" and "leave matters in Jehovah's hands". The elders actively tried to cover up the abuse by giving "encouragement" and even "special needs talks".

    (3) The Circuit Overseer, the local elders and the Society itself do not consider child molestation to be a crime.

    (4) The Society's claim that two witnesses to separate but similar events of sin is sufficient to convict a sinner has not been applied to child molestation cases. Good lord! There were 17 accusations!

    (5) The Service Department directed the CO and the elders to cover up the abuse.

    (6) Even though the entire family of one of the abuse victims (Tina) quit going to meetings because of the lack of action, the JW officials still felt it was better for the organization's interests to cover up the abuse.

    (7) Even though one of the abuse victims (Tina) attempted suicide and ended up in a rehabilitation home, the JW officials still felt it was better for the organization's interests to cover up the abuse.

    (8) Even though one of the abuse victims (Tina) wrote the CO a letter asking why justice had not been done, the Society did nothing. By its inaction, the Society has essentially repudiated one the basic principles of Christianity as illustrated in Luke 18:1-8.

    (9) Even though the CO encouraged the Yerington elders to cooperate in forming a judicial committee, nothing was done and the Yerington elders were not disciplined. This implies that these elders had something to hide. One wonders if they were covering their butts because they knew they had violated state laws requiring them to report abuse to authorities.

    (10) The changes in Watchtower policy implemented during 2002 came about because and only because of the adverse publicity generated by Silentlambs and the Society's advance knowledge of TV broadcasts on this issue, especially NBC Dateline.

I have a copy of this letter in my possesion. I received it from someone involved in the civil trial against Dan in which the Churchfields sued the WTS. The WTS had to turn this document over to the courts as a matter of discovery. As far as "prominent" people in Yerington, it is a very small town of around 4000 people. Dan Fitzwater was himself well known as he was a pioneer as well as elder and congergation overseer. There were people in town that actually approached the elders in the congergations about him. To them Dan represented the witnesses in Yerington and surrounding areas. They wanted to see something done. The reason the WTS cared was that this was their territory and was hurting their field ministry. This also cut the congergation in size by almost half.

The girl that was placed in foster care was Dan's step-daughter, Dawn. She came forward and the elders were notified when she was 15. This was in the early 80's. Social services were also notified, but not by the elders. Dan was brought up on investagation, but he fled to Florida. That is where I met him. I was 12. He was made a pioneer right away and very soon thereafter was made a MS. He was one of the few MS's in our hall giving public talks. (we had a lot of elders) Dawn stayed in Nevada in foster care until she reached adulthood. My husband, Dan's son, had moved out of the house very shortly before Dawn came forward. He lived with his mom in Texas and was unaware of the circumstances of Dawn being removed from the home. He was told she had become rebellious and uncontrollable so they turned her over to the state. Most people in FL did not even know she existed. Dan stayed in Fl for a couple years. When my husband turned 18 he moved to FL and that is where I met him. Dan then moved to GA and became an elder as soon as he got there and was approved by the WTS. He waited 7 years from the time he left NV and then moved back. 7 years was the period of time for the statute of limitations. He became an elder there and then the congergation overseer.

Dawn came forward to the congergation at that time and they did not believe her. Dan said she made it up to hurt him. She never became a baptized witness. Meantime he got a hold of the Churchfields daugter and abused her.She was 8. She kept it quiet for 2 years before attempting suicide. In the meantime 2 other girls in the congergation came forward.

The rest is history. You see the letter. That is the attitude of the WTS. They are just concerned that the victims won't let it go. They NEVER tried to help the victims. They never suggested getting help for them. The victims were threatened to stay quiet for fear of disfellowshipment for gossip & slander.

Dan is in prison now and the latest info I have is that he is up for parole in Oct and set for release in June of next year. I had been given some false info before on the times but have confirmed these dates. He is still a member in good standing.

Thank you AlanF and Laurie for this info and detailed coverage. I don't even know what to say, I just feel SICK.

And thanks to Silentlambs, Kim, the victims and the Media! At last count the media coverage regarding the Las Vegas Press Conference about this major pervert/pedophile has reached 17 news articles and/or news reports in various cities/websites across the country!

Simultaneously, the AP article re: the Kentucky legislator who proposed the bill to repeal the clergy-penitent law (and which mentioned the "horror stories" of Jehovah's WItnesses abuse coverups) has reached approximately 40 news outlets/websites.

Laurie's comments bring up an interesting question: Just why was Dan Fitzwater never disfellowshipped, even after it became evident that he had lied to several bodies of elders over the years? I suspect that it has to do with the JW doctrine that "elders are appointed by holy spirit". Since Fitzwater was a molester of long standing when he was appointed a pioneer, Ministerial Servant and most importantly an elder, it would seem that "holy spirit" managed to appoint a serial molester to positions of respect and authority within the JW organization. Since this conclusion is self-evidently wrong, it follows that the doctrine that elders are appointed by holy spirit -- no matter what sense you put on "appoint" -- is false, and therefore the entire basis of the JW authority structure collapses.

I have no doubt that in the minds of the JWs ultimately in charge -- GB member Ted Jaracz and the Service Department that he heads -- it's far better to wrong a bunch of abuse victims and allow a disgusting molester to go free than to admit that "holy spirit" has nothing to do with appointing them. This, I am certain, largely explains why repeated inquiries by the media and private parties as to why Fitzwater was never disfellowshipped always get the same response -- "We can't talk about that".

I hope that the coming legal actions and resulting publicity will show up these unchristian usurpers for what they really are -- leaders of a destructive cult.

If this is true then why did they disfellowship Dunlap? He was not just an elder but a member of the Brooklyn elite ( lots of holy spirit there), in addition Ray Franz was of the anointed! can't get much more holy spirit appointed than that!

There must be something more going on here on their part than just a defense of the "holy spirit" appointment of Fitzwater.

    No?
