Of course, the Kindom of heaven is within. But it gets lonely on the outside when you are looking for fine Christian fellowship. But I do understand what you mean about being secretive about doctrine.

Our family attends a very laid back Anglican (like Episcopalian) church. The priest is a fascinating speaker, and somehow it comes down to dealing with life, and being better people, not the exact details of religious doctrine. It is an extremely flexible and welcoming congregation. One of my female relatives was an Anglican priest, and the Archbishop of our diocese is a woman. As churches go, it is a good place, and way better than the many many others, I have tried in my life.
