Black Hawk Down was brutal. Don't know if it was meant to be anti-war, but it was not glorifying it either.

    Ditto on that.

Valis beat me to The Deer Hunter. I managed to get into that movie, even though I was underage at the time. R [ Restricted ] in Ontario is no one under 18 allowed....period.

    That one shook me up.

I've seen the trailers for the new Bruce Willis movie coming out in March, and it looks to be the same theme.

Not to slight our American friends in any way, but it seems when the U.S. goes into these arenas, it is next to impossible to distinguish friend from foe.

We musn't forget The Deer Hunter

Ah, yes. I saw that again just last week. That scene where they escape the torture is so intense.

Johnny Got His Gun is an interesting movie. That one ranks up there, I'd have to say.

The famous bouncing bombs of the film covered over the horror of the people drowned in the valleys below the dams.

Did anyone see The Lost Batallion with Rick Schroeder in it? I thought it was kick ass...very graphic though...

Black Hawk Down. The stupidity of war was to be seen in an excellent way.

I find it interesting that so many consider "Black Hawk Down" as anit-war. While I found it disturbing and most un-lifting, I don't think that the producers meant it to be anti-war. Especially that scene at the end where they jog into safe territory whipped but yet still standing and defiant almost in their attitude. If it was meant to be anti-war I missed it completely.

Gallipoli was a really good anti-war movie, as well.

    So was Breaker Morant

Both are Aussie movies, and both are among the best movies I've ever seen.
