I have been challenged

My father has told me that if I can disprove the Bible on any point he will discontinue beliveing in it.

I will be the first to admit that Bible Theology is not my strong point so I need any help that I can get.

Question before this gets started: Are we talking about the bible itself, solo scriptura? Or are we talking about some WTS interpretation of of some scripture snippets thereof, therefore some organizational doctrine? - Big, big difference.

If you are the one that has been challenged, shouldn't he be the one presenting the proof first?

I think you should have him choose 5 points that you will both discuss. Give him the choice of which 5.

Ask him about Noah could be true, and let him prove it.

If he is a JW and this is about disproving WTS theology...just ask him to show you the scripture where the bible says leukocytes are bad blood parts and platelets are good blood parts.

Buster.......

This would be using the dub Bible but I told my father that he was only allowed to use scientific facts or secular resources to counter any arguments I bring up. I told him he could also not use the bible or any other religous resoureces to prove the bible. He has agreed. My father is a dub and has been for over 30 years so I definately need all the help I can get. If my dad stops believeing so does the rest of my family.

larc---we went around on Noah today and thats what brought up this challenge.

I read a web site that had some statistics on the Ark vs the # of insects, birds, animals etc. Basically, just the species of insects could not fit into the dimensions described in Gen 6

Ask him why there's proof that the dinosaurs lived 65 million years ago......long before the bible says life on this planet was created. I'd also ask why there is archeological evidence of humans living 8,000 or 10,000 years ago......according to the bible, we've only been here for 6,000 years.

And why is there no evidence of a global flood 5,000 years ago? There was indeed a huge flood somewhere over in the Middle East, but all evidence points to far earlier than that. http://www.neanderthal-modern.com/

An excellent book for you to review is The Book your Church doesnt want you to Read. It demonstrates how the bible was basically plagiarized from "pagan" religions even older than the bible.

In essence, the flaws it outlines are the very authenticity and foundation of the bible.

One of my favorite chapters outlines how many other "messiahs" have come and gone... some before, some during, and some after Jesus life. These other messiahs are claimed to have walked on water, turned water into wine, raised the dead, healed the sick, died as a sacrifice for humanity, was raised from the dead, etc...

There is nothing Jesus did that another "messiah" didn't already do. He is sort of the Microsoft of messiahs: He didnt come up with anything new he just stole some ideas and repackaged them.

There is also a section about how Noah's account and a lot of the genesis was plagiarized from another story told by people more ancient than the Hebrews.

Please understand that in posting this I don't mean to attack or take lightly anyone's faith... everyone is entitled to their belief and I will respect that. I am just posting information to be considered that could be viewed as contrary to some beliefs.
