Jac,
I went through the same treatment as you did, but I ended up getting baptized before our marriage. All the shunning stopped as soon as I took the plunge, so that is the requirement, in my eyes, of their love. You need to be officially, one of them. It doesn't matter how many meetings you go to, as long as you took the dunk. I had horrible meeting attendance, but because i was baptized, i was one of them. Although, there were certain cliques I wasn't welcome in, the pioneer clique, the MS clique, but the general JWs were friendly.
Its a conditional love they have for people, and you never met their condition so sadly they missed out on you. Just remember, true friends love you because of how you are, not because of your beliefs.

Jacqueline, to illustrate how they feel about non-JWs who are married to JWs, at the last circuit assembly, the district overseer said that non-JWs were no better than corpses in the morgue and that JWs married to them who kissed them were kissing corpses. Now how loving can that be. I looked over at an older sister who has an unbaptized husband, married for 60 years, and she had a tear in her eye. That made me decide never to go to another assembly.

Elders want to come back next Thursday night to our house for another meeting and study. Husband said, "Sure." How should I deal with that? Should I tell my husband I refuse to participate? Or should I attend and smile through it....gritting my teeth?

Find someone to go to a movie with. Have fun. Don't come back until you're sure the elders are gone. Tell hubby you have a long standing appointment with a friend that you don't want to cancel. If he wants to meet with the elders, fine, let him. You didn't agree to it, so find something to do so they can have a nice private visit.

Scully,
Thanks for the suggestion, but honesty is a big part of success in our marriage. I can't lie to him and tell him that I have other arrangements when I don't. So, I am pretty much limited to flat out refusal of attending, I can spend theevening in our bed watching televiosion while he has study with Elders....or attend and grit my teeth and live through the damn thing.
I have already inform my husband I have no interest in going to meetings anymore and he seems to accept that....maybe I can use that...I have no interest in attending next Thurs. night study.
Whatcha think of that? Anyone have any better ideas?

Thank you for sharing your story with all of us. As you have found out that their love is only lip service. There really is no effort on their part. They leave that all up to you. As you have experienced is is all about power and control. You did not have power, since you were not baptized (thank God!!) so they basically considered you unworthy. I find it very interesting that they didn't pay attention to you when you attended but now that you have stopped they show up. Real love all right my guess it is all about numbers. The elders have been admonished to bring in the weak and beef those memorial day numbers. Hey you ought to ask them if they are counting their time with you?? LOL. One really good thing is there is really nothing they can do to you since you are not baptized. As far as them coming over talk it over with your husband. He sounds like a cutey and is concerned for you. It is not easy for one raised a JW to stick up for their non JW wife. Keep us posted.

hi Jackie; sorry to post again.. it is a game with them they feel they GOT YOU..they will hit you with a few verses that they will TWIST and use the name of jehovah to GLORIFY THE WT... IT'S ALL BULL!!!!!!!!! at all costs refuse to TALK TO THEM.. IN FACT don't even let them in your house... if you do talk to them say this, and only this,,, if they want to have a study you want it to be only on that jesus choose the wt in 1919... very important.. not from any new wt books BUT ONLY FROM WT PUBLICATIONS UP TILL 1919.... this is a killer and trust me next to NO jw today has ever read these books.... tell them you only want to study the FINISHED MYSTERY BOOK 1917 as jesus would have read it before 1919 or any studies in the scriptures books so we can see if jesus choose the wt in 1874 or 1881 or 1918-19 . hold to this study only,, they can not even get these books or old wt's... now you have put the ball in their court.. it will work NO WT BOOK AFTER 1919... you have just BUSTED THEM AS FALSE PROPHECTS...
