First of all you make the assumption that drug use would go up. That is incorrect. Ask Vivamus about that. Consumption of drugs remains the same, why??? Because the same people who are doing drugs when its legal where the ones who were doing it because it was illegal. Do you smoke??? Smoking is legal and I dont smoke! Just because its legal does not mean people are going to do it. Secondly, drugs are ILLEGAL and guess what, people still buy them!! There is NO difference between me going into 7-11 and buying some coke and me going into buy 2 Cases of Beer. BOTH are DRUGS. ALCOHOL (yes its LEGAL) kills 17,000 people a year in Drunk Driving Crashes ALONE, that does not include liver disease and all the other wonderfull conditions of Alcohol Addiction. Cigarettes kill 500,000 a year IN THE U.S!! Lets not even try to include the Billions of cigarettes we export to other countries (yes! We the U.S. are DRUG DEALERS).
So please explain to me again your point??? What drugs are bad??? Yes they are. That doesnt stop anyone from doing it, just like speed limits do not stop people from speeding.
The funny thing is that DRUG DEALERS and CARTELS that kill THOUSANDS of people every year and are invovled in a full blown REVOLUTION in Columbia that has forced Millions of people into Poverty- THEY AGREE WITH YOU!! THEY DONT WANT DRUGS TO BE LEGAL EITHER! Good Job! Side with the Drug Dealers!!!
Spanner, Please explain to me how the current war on Drugs is different from Prohibition. If Prohibition didnt work why do you think the war on drugs will? Why has it been a total FAILURE for the past 40 YEARS????
Spanner, you will not see the usage of drugs decrease, why?? They Have not DECREASED in the Past 30 YEARS. All of the money and time we have put in "dont do drugs" has not worked.

Why did I add guns to the mix??? Simple, you have to apease the right or it will never work. And besides, the vast majority of murders (especially here in California) are gang/drug related. You get rid of the drugs, you get rid of alot of murders. As far as "adding guns to the mix" HELLO they are already in the MIX! You dont think gang members have guns?? You think current gun laws prevent gang members from using guns?? HELLO they are allready Selling DRUGS which is ILLEGAL why in the Hell would they stop and say "Well I better not use this gun its Illegal"?????? WAKE UP.
And this whole "they'll just find another crime to commit"- BULLSHIT. People sell drugs becuase they are lazy and STUPID. It makes alot of $$$$$$$$$$$. Other types of illegal activity are not as profitable and take BRAINS to pull off. And the real kicker is- They are all ready doing it. How can you sit here and say "Drugs are bad, I hate drugs, but dont legalize them because I dont want some ex-dealer to steal my car....."
South American Terrorists??? What do you call the current cartels or the FARC who go around BUCHERING women and Children so they can control the drug trade. GET RID of the PROFIT and get rid of the CARTELS.
People, you need to stop looking at the drug problem as some form of Social+Moral problem and realize that it is a BUSINESS and to defeat it you need to treat it as such.
