What do you expect after Fifth Estate program

  A couple of thoughts

  1. Does the public care? Probably not a lot until a potential pedophile is at their door. Or unless they are working with one. Or their child is dating one. Or studying with one. Then it will impact - hard.

  2. Will it affect the R&F? Probably not a lot. They will recite their blurbs and go on their way... until it happens to them or someone they love and they get the old speil of "Don't tell or else". As much as they spout a policy, the practice of it has always been something different. And sadly people will only find out too late. BUT..... and this is the big BUT... more people/victims will be unwilling to stay quiet. More will leave and I don't think they will be quiet about it.

  3. Will it help the victims/survivors? Actually I think it will. After each show there has been a influx of people to the silentlambs website and to here. Discloure - public disclosure - breeds confidence and courage in others to come forward. And once they have come forward they will realize they can't stay in the organization.

  Institutionalised dubs,will stay institutionalised..Dubs looking for a reason to leave the WBTS,will leave the WBTS..WBTS will claim Satan is after them..Nothing much will change.We`ve seen it all before..The real difference it will make,is how the general pubic views the WBTS..It`s going to be alot harder to sucker the general public into the WBTS mindless cult the JW`s..Outside the WBTS,thats where the difference will be made...OUTLAW

  I think most JW's will watch the program. No one will admit it to the other, but I really believe, they WILL watch and RECORD.

  I think JW's are getting tired of getting " blasted" at the doors about the UN issue, and the child abuse issue, and they will think to themselves....If I am going out in F.S. Sat. morning, I had better be prepared for what the householder's may say. In reality a good number, will tune in, because they cannot ignore the obvious.

  Expatbrit and others have referred to Hawkaw's term: "inoculating" the general public against the Watchtower.

  This is what is important. Any thing that can be done to educate the public, to inject them with an anti-JW flu shot is the goal. This program will do more to enrage the public, than brain-dead JW's themselves. But if JW's are being constantly bombarded with this " public outcry ", hopefully it will cause some of them to come out of their self induced comas"

  My mom said something pretty interesting the other night when I told her about the show. She said "Jehovah is using the Superior Authorities and apostates to clean out His Organization." This led to a rather interesting conversation (and a refresher course for me on Watchtower Logic101).

  Me: Does that mean "apostates" are on Jehovah's side?

  Her: No. But Jehovah can still use them.

  Me: But if there's a problem like this - where something is obviously very very wrong - would Jehovah not abandon His Organization the way he abandoned Israel when they were bad beyond redemption?

  Her: We're still being used to deliver the Good News, and if we didn't have Jehovah's spirit anymore, the preaching work would end.

  Me: So do you think people in the public want pedophiles coming to their doors, appearing to be righteous, God-fearing people, when in reality, they're checking out the little girls and boys in the neighbourhood?

  Her: People know that Witnesses are imperfect people too, just like them. We have our problems, but now something is being done about it.

  Me: So the apostates are right? But the WTS isn't wrong?? How do you figure that?

  Her: I never said the apostates are right. Just that they are being used with the Superior Authorities to cleanse the Organization.

  uhhh yeah.... right..... whatever.....
