I've been inactive for a few years now, and yet, despite all I read, I can't feel as you mostly all do. I have a lot of happy memories of being "in the truth" (and I know how much some here hate that line) and fond memories of the meetings and assemblies, sure it was much easier to break away and live life like I am now,..... but well, thats just how I feel. I can understand those that may leave for personal reasons, but not sure I'll ever understand some here who have such a hatred of anything JW related. Am I missing something?

The WTS hurts families, destroys them, and works under the disguise of being a loving arrangement. The facts are, that they are otherwise. I would strongly urge you to read Crisis of Conscience, written by a former governing body member. He lets you know what is really going on.

"under a disguise"?......have I been misled about my memories and how I feel then? I read Ray Franz, but was never really a fan of his writings. I don't really hold "Crisis of Conscience" in awe.

No, you are not missing something. I myself didn't have a bad experience with JWs either. The reason I left was for all the change in meaning of certian issues. God never changes but the JW religion seems to change quit often.
Also, I do not believe in the shunning policy. God wants followers who want to follow him out of love, not because they miss their family. To me, shunning is emotional blackmale. And it works. If you think about it. The only reason the Org has this shunning policy, is to keep people who have found out the truth about the religion from talking to their loved ones and telling them what they have learned. If the one being shunned comes back to the religion, they know that he/she has not found out the truth and therefore it is safe to let them back in and talk to their family and friends.
Ok, I'm rambling now, so I will stop.

ScoobySnax,
You said
I don't really hold "Crisis of Conscience" in awe.
What do you think of the way they treated Ed Dunlap? And others?

Hey Scoody, just wondering why you left the WT? WHy not just do your own thing and still attend whatever meetings you want and still hang out with the JW crowd?

I've seen enough of your comments to believe you are likely just a person of low intelligence. It's pretty simple really, yet you just don't seem to "get it". The only other reason I could think of for someone with your attitude, would be that you simply don't care about right or wrong (except in an esoteric, rule based sense). Again, not really something anyone can help you with. In fact, when you say "sure it was much easier to break away and live life like I am now,..... " I tend to think the latter is the case. For most of us, it was much harder to break away and live differently than we had all our lives. But our concience, our sense of justice, our love for our fellow man, and our intelligence over-rode our fear.

W.H. Amazing conspiracy theory there about "shunning". However from what I remember it was a Biblical command, can't remember the scripture, but it was something like Not mixing with unbelievers and those that went out from among us. Sorry, but it stretches the imagination to believe that the WT keeps this policy so that the faithful are some how protected from some "real truth" that is found on sites like these. And you say if someone "does" return, then they haven't found out this "real truth", so its "safe" to let them return?? Hmmmm, come on now.

I love the JW's. I hate what the society does to them.

....oh and thanks SixofNine for your judgement on me. Of course you must be of high inteligence to hold your position as the majority here do, whereas, silly ol' me, who doesn't follow the majority line is just plain stupid. Thanks for the info. Maybe your conscience, sense of justice and love of fellow man that you speak of, will understand how I feel some day soon.
