Its because the commercialized Watchtower scam has run its course, the WTS is now consolidating its resources to sustain the people who live off the WTS ......... ie. the GB members $$$

This, IMO, fits with something I've suspected for a few years...
...that, on some level, they want to prune the rank-and-file down to a more manageable size.

I don't think they have the skills to know it will take 4 or 5 years, but only recognise this is a long task. Depending on how much they are fined over the coming years and what the donation levels drop to, this could easily take 9 or 10 years to get back to where they want to be.
Saying they need to sell 3,000 properties when just a few years ago they wanted tithes to support building 10,000 halls, is quite revealing, as is the fact that they had a $25 million contingency which he smiling tells us "we've pretty much spent that already".
They lack basic business skills. Watch them react rather than plan, sell capital assets to pay operating costs, and squander millions after millions of dollars. These clowns pretend to be CEO's but will bury themselves.

That assumes that the "clowns" are really running the show. I don't believe that is true. These "clowns" wouldn't have any idea where to even begin to run a multi-million dollar business. Just as the WT has real lawyers (with degrees) handling their legal issues, you can be sure they have real business professionals (the kind with the MBA degrees that are discouraged) managing the finances.
That's not saying that they aren't possibly having a financial crisis. But, I'm not sure that the "crisis" we are being warned about isn't "smoke & mirrors" in an effort to look broke for the benefit of discouraging lawsuits.

A few years back, there was a first-person account posted on Freeminds (I think) by a successful XJW business owner who - when shill in - happened to be invited to Bethel to tour the place and give his thoughts on how the operation was run.
At the end, he frankly told the HQ rep who'd invited him that if things were being run that way at a secular business, heads would roll (paraphrasing, but that's the gist).
Obviously, his host didn't like hearing that.
Seems that the Org hasn't really changed that aspect of how they function, either.

The 8 clowns couldn't roll/cash in pennies out of their piggy bank -- they pay for professional CPA firms. The lawyers and accountants are running the ponzi scheme from top to bottom and have been for years. The eight just appear and blather/drool.
Who can possibly believe anything they say - hope they're not using scare methods re/selling off hall properties, etc., so the JWs will pony up and throw more funds their way! We'll have to wait to see if they really sell off properties. Very interesting and always good news!
