Another phrase is " sunken cost fallacy"".

This is what keeps victims captive when Proven with undeniable facts.

Beth Sarim, new one for me, probably like me most people would have to look it up for the meaning, and some wouldn't bother, :) The sunk cost fallacy is the tendency for people to continue an endeavor or course of action even when abandoning it would be more beneficial. Because we have invested our time, energy, or other resources, we feel that it would all have been for nothing if we quit ??

I think there was a change in the last few years about how they are appointed.

Previously: CO's meeting with elders consider a candidate and the CO makes a recommendation to the WT branch. The candidate is appointed after receiving the approval from the branch.

Now: CO's meeting with elders consider a candidate and the CO makes the final decision and appointment. The branch is not part of the decision. The servant is appointed almost immediately.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I think this change is pretty recent (in the last few years)

Given the recent push to appoint boys men as MS and even elders by their early 20s, I'd say it's definitely going that way! 🤣

Male? Have a pulse? Can walk, talk and sign your own name? Have at least one clean suit? Haven't murdered anyone or identified as a Satanist? Not masturbated or looked at any pr0n recently - or at least are prepared to keep quiet about it and feel vaguely guilty? You're in!

How are Brothers measured fit for an appointment as a MS or Elder?

Old elder: Young brother still wet behind the ears, can you step into the library for a moment?

Youngster: Sure brother Older than dirt.

    Old elder: Drop trousers.

2nd Older elder: Yep, he's got a twig and berries. And he is a good brown noser. Appoint him.

    brown nosing.

Yes this but also less and less want to do anything let alone serve in an appointed position so standards have dropped drastically. I mean I have heard that they are appointing 16, 17 yr old's as MS and 21-23 yr old's as elders. lol Seriously?!?!

Brown nosing "a person who tries to please (esp. one's boss) so much that their nose turns brown from kissing their ass."

thankyou for explaining that, Blondie--i had always wondered what it meant

I cant Imagine what it would be like for a 21 or 23-year-old young man to be telling a couple who have been married 30plus years.

Thats twice as long as he's been alive .

I wonder what that would be like??
