    Jackson’s talk was the most entertaining. He made a good few jokes about elderly anointed. He’s a good speaker, but at the end of the day the new insistence that anointed don’t need to be elderly is a climbdown. In the long run people will remember the climbdown rather than the amiable delivery and the jokes.

    LHG;

    GB members now at 11.

    Methinks perhaps that the Borg will try to match the LDS who has the Quoram of 12 apostles?

    Who knows?!!!?

    You never know. You never know. 😏

    They had 12 in the past - in the classic Proclaimers group GB portrait in 1991 .

    They seem to aim for roughly twelve but are not fixated on the number. I think the most has been 17 and the fewest 7 - off the top of my head.

    My impression is that they made the rank and file ready for the long run.

    For the life of me, I kept records way back when we were told as the anointed numbers decreased, the GT was imminent. We lived by that statement, yet watched as numbers grew, thinking "oh well" there must be a reason. The reason they gave was that some were disloyal and had to be replaced. The main thing it did was give folks hope that the system was soooo close. Now Jackson makes jokes, and the audience laughs. What fools they made of us who gave it all for these jerks.

    I just read a thread on ex-JW Reddit entitled “Stop Waiting for Changes”.

    The OP acknowledged that many are concerned about family still in and how changes will affect them, etc. But, they were mostly addressing ex-JWs and how they shouldn’t be hanging on every word coming from the religion and how they should get on with their lives. They think that some have never broken free from the religion in their minds anyway.. There were some indignant answers.

    Probably most of us are long out (I certainly am) and it shouldn’t make any difference what the Jehovah’s Witness religion does or does not do.. It is just plain curiosity.. Don’t know about anybody else but I don’t need any ‘validation’ for having walked away years ago. But, when the religion took away the counting of hours with time sheets at the 2023 annual meeting - I was shocked. Never expected that. But was certainly relieved to have held onto my job all those years ago!!

    Change of understanding: The destruction of Babylon the Great will be all countries willingly giving their power over to the united nations to destroy it.

    Does this mean Jehovah's Witnesses will no longer view their Christian neighbors as whores, as in the whore of babylon the great? I'm mean, WT taught for a very long time that church goers were the daughters of the greatest whore of them all - Christendom.

    If Christians are no longer filthy whores, maybe JW's will interact more with them.

    But I do so miss the clairty of the good 'ole days when WT leaders like Knorr and Franz knew who was a harlot and who wasn't.

    The only ole GB fart we didn't hear from was GB Herd. Wonder if it's health related...or maybe they had him doing the sound...or maybe he cut himself shaving his beard. Inquiring minds want to know.

    Something else I found odd...they didn't mention anything about JWs affected by Hurricane Helene or damged/destruction of Kingdom Halls...Odd!

    BTW...thank you ukpimo for the link...much appreciated!
