I just wanna contribute my 2 cents here.
I was thinking that it could be that "NEW LIGHT" will be coming about something. They probably wanna see the reaction of the R/F. If there is not a mass Exodus, they will continue on the projects.
Money is not the issue.

James, on top of what tim3l0rd and DOC have said, along with the comments from former accounts servants (which I can echo), I think there is a genuine lack of enthusiasm to donate amongst many. There is no driver, no payoff. Sure, money contributes to publications, buildings, equipment and so on but that only tugs on the heartstrings of the minority. The bleatings of the GB for more cash does not elicit enough of an emotional response in enough people. It might make some feel guilty and pop a bit in now and again but for many looking at a plush building simply is not worth it compared to what they can do with the cash themselves. -

Agreeing with hard to be Me: It could be a big publicity stunt.... Rev up the R&F..."Why oh Why? Is it the big A?" We will then hear of an announcement 'Don't miss the special meeting...." After everyone is let down or some stupid adjustment is made....back to business as usual. -
