Balaamsass2 - the overloaded donkey summed up my short stint in the cult and have related to it since first glance! Overstressed, underwhelmed spiritually and total time waste.

Your powerful post could certainly warn/protect the innocent and needs to be blasted all over internet/door-to-door, carts, streets, whatever. If only! You and 3rdGen have some serious WT history to share for those capable of accepting truth/reality.

It was obvious the generation prophesy would fail like all the others - I wasn't shocked one iota. Picked up at a couple of public talks the admonition (gag me) one must go on serving/giving their all financially, etc., to Jehovah regardless if the 'system' carries on ad infinitum - OMG shoot me now! Knew the same ole delusional hardliners would continue plodding along. Some middle age/younger ones faking along were covering their bases for friends/family -- what a price to pay.

The first time that I saw clown face Steven Lett on the big screen was a turning point for me - such a huge credibility deficit this guy is.

There’d been a steadily growing pile of things that didn’t add up (or I realized were simply wrong), I’d been inactive for about a year for unrelated reasons, I already knew that if you kept something private, the elders would not somehow know what you’d been up to, and the fear of hearing what XJWs had to say had somewhat diminished by then.

I basically came here for confirmation of my suspicions.

In 2002 I was disfellowshipped for smoking and came to this board under a different username. I had been baptized in 1985 despite my disbelief of and disagreement with the things I was learning I let myself be pushed. Anyway, those initial doubts were never dispelled, and once the Internet became populated, I was able to look things up. That led me to this site and to Crisis of Conscience. That was the proverbial last nail in the coffin. .

NOT ONE WATCHTOWER PROPHECY HAD EVER COME TRUE - BalaamsAss

That's a pretty bad record when you consider that even the time on a broken clock is true twice/day.

Had it NOT been for this site,,,, I wouldn't have ever known of Raymond Franz. The developments & NONE of his books.

    Or James Penton..

Steven Hassen,, Carl Olaf Jonson,,,none of these people or their books.

Trying to provide a rebuttal against Ray Franz books. It was a bridge too far or mission impossible. 2 - 3 years later, disassociated.

Researching for the Flood of Noah's Day has Meaning for Our Day talk was a huge punch in the gut. My experiences at Bethel, made it all too human, further serious human drama on a foreign assignment, it goes on. The Greatest man book wherein it became obvious the story only works as a rewrite glossing over the contradictions. But in the end, it was research using books from the library about the book of Daniel and how real Bible scholarship regards the book. That is very condensed, and I'd probably focus on other events and personal epiphanies if asked again, but ultimately it all just stopped working and I couldn't play pretend anymore.
