Are they understimating? Judging by their renewed efforts to baptise children as young as possible, it looks like they have some level of awareness of the problem at least.

Yup.
Can't see it as having any kind of significant long-term positive effect, though. Like you said in a different thread, "unsustainable".
Besides, I suspect that the efforts to baptize 'em younger is more to make it easier to DF 'em if they discover the TATT in their late-teens-early-twenties, to keep 'em from sharing.

Young jws under 18, will most likely not have anything to contribute monetarily to the WTS, which is more important than preaching is to the WTS. Jws who drop out tend to be teenagers and people in their early 20's who have not invested most of their adult life to the WTS and have less to lose.
Just from my own experience.

Is The Governing Body Underestimating The Volume Of Those Waking Up?
I don't think so...there are too many factors that signal to them that indeed they are in for some difficult years ahead. This cult is dealing with too many emergency-like situations to think otherwise. The pedophile/child molester dilemma is not going away any time soon. There is the forever problem of very low meeting attendance on the part of baptized rank and file...add to that the very low number of new outside converts. The list is endless of predicaments this organization is dealing with to think they aren't worried about their own future. What we here on this forum need to do is sit tight...be patient...there are too many cracks in the dam's wall of this cult...there are only soo many "winters" this organization can deal with before it floods over!

And yet it doesn’t have to be that way. Even at this late stage I do believe there is a way out for Watchtower, to become a successful movement once again, one for good! But will they adopt the measures necessary to achieve this? Admittedly it does not look promising at the moment, but we can live in hope.

Hundreds of thousands if not millions live and hope this cult floods over and drowns sooner than later...preferably in our lifetime due to the harm, damage, destruction and death it has caused!

Slim - it would take a 180 degree miracle and many use to hope for reform. I hope it softens it's horror for all those with family members inside but can't see it happening at this point in time. The adherents would have to strip them of everything (and they're too obedient and powerless) and many are content with the status quo. Until people stop the free labor and handouts there will be no change.

The compartmentalization thingy that the Governing Body go through to make it to the top of the heap of company men got to be very severe and intense leading to brain shrinkage, severe cases of denial, a huge Shadow full of all sorts repressed desires. It seems they are helplessly driven by a unconscious self hatred to deny the real conditions the Corporation is facing. Expect more and more blunders by these nutty bunch of buffoons steering Jehovah's Chariot.

They're run by professionals advising them and dealing with all the cult horror that's accumulated for decades. Those 8 loons couldn't run a newspaper route.
