Why do you think Americans shoot each other six times more often than Americans? It's not due to the gun control laws, as I have demonstrated. Are Americans more violent, is life cheaper, are they enured to violence, is it a frontier society, is it culturally backwards, does a diet of burgers make you a murderer, are the police rubbish?
Good question. I would try to debate this with you, but I don't have an opinion or answer that I feel would carry much weight. Although I have noticed that after eating a burger or two I do feel a bit more homicidal. I don't think that taking guns away would make the crime rate lower. Only those afraid of the ramifications of violating the law for posessing an illegally owned weapon would turn them in. Personally, if tomorrow the government said that they were going to outlaw guns within six months, I would call the local police and report that my house has been broken into and the only thing that the burgaler had taken was my guns.

Nope, I can't remember where I read it. It was when Michigan was getting it's CCW law passed. I think that this number was slightly inflated but if you look at just Michigan's statistics since the passing of the CCW law you can see that the crimes have gone down starting in 1999 (the same year they passed the legislation).
I don't feel that every person should own assault weapons, but I also don't believe that guns should be taken away from law abiding citizens. The only thing that weapons control laws accomplish is the disarming of law abiding citizens, the criminals will still possess guns no matter what laws are passed. There needs to be stiffer penalties for criminals who use guns, and maybe that will help deter some of the violent crime.
