Just got back from playing poker (Texas Hold'em) with some friends......
Well, in the back of my mind I was worried that a 'dirty bomb' would go off in a kindergarden somewhere after the invasion. So, from that perspective, I guess its been ok so far.
About the military controled post-war reconstruction. I don't know that much about that topic, but wasn't post-WWII Japan's entire relief work, industry, and government under US military control for years?
Simon, I agree. The war has gone remarkably well. So far so good.....we have to wait and see though. It's a volatile region and anyone's guess is as good as mine. Suicide bombers....eek. The post war issue is a major concern. Apparently, Bush has a very bad taste in his mouth toward the UN and isn't interested in their cooperation. I think that Blair is more in favor of the UN playing a bigger role. I personally don't give a hoooot who handles it as long as the Iraqi's are left better off than they were and are able to have a bit of peace in their daily lives. I think they will need some adjustment time because they are so used to being pushed around by Saddam's cronies. They will probably make progress slowly, after all their lives have been hell for some 20 years now. They probably suffer some sort of post traumatic stress syndrome not disimilar to xjw's. In the long run I hope it will be worth it.
