I have ZERO sympathy for the idiots out there blocking access to public buildings and private businesses, blocking roads illegally, and throwing bolts, etc at police. They got what they were looking for, a reaction. TOO DARNED BAD! In a different day those blocking the port would have been charged with sabatoge, and still could be under US Code Title 18. It won't happen, but it could. Protest all you want, but break the law and the law takes charge.

Check out this headline from Iraq a few years ago: (from the Bahgdad post) REAL BULLETS USED ON ANTI-BAATH PARTY PROTESTERS...100s KILLED

Why not read this? Since you are too young to remember?

Yep, the Guardsmen were clumsy and made mistakes, RIOT GEAR would have been the more appropriate way to address the issue, rubber bullets, etc. I remember Kent, I was a kid, but I remember. The majority of the anti-war protestors then and now aren't anti-war, but rather anti-administration. NO PROTESTOR has the right to break the law. My sympathy to the families of those killed at Kent.

So it was ok, to shoot the six long shoreman also?

Since neither you nor I were there, we don't know what happened, why weren't these guys working? Was it right? I don't know. Was it right for the protestors to become violent? Blame the six longshoresmen on the violent protestors who purposefully try to get a violent response from the police. No, that would make as much sense as blaming the Iraqi Irregular forces for the deaths of the Iraqi civilians they used as human shields.

Except the protesters weren't using the long shoreman as shields. Who know what they were doing, maybe they were coming home from lunch, or like during the WTO in Seattle, I had friends that got gassed walking into they're own apartments, coming home from work. Because the brillian LAW, decided to push all the protesters up into residential neighborhoods.

Yeah, that World Trade Organization Protest was a real winner, it MAKES the case for treating these idiots harshly. Sorry innocents got hurt (if they did) it's a shame. Reminds me of when i was in Panama during the anti Noriega riots. Seems the protestors always set up their road blockade right in front of my apartment. The Police used to toss tear gas at my balcony on the 1st floor, I didn't blame them, I blamed the protestors. I didn't support Noriega, hated him, but the cops wouldn't have thrown tear gas on my balcony exposing my pregnant wife and her young sisters to CS gas.

Umm ok, so you think it was a good tactic to push protesters from a business district into residential neighborhoods? If you've ever been to Seattle, there is a 6 lane hiway seperating the two area's, and they had to push them over a bridge. Yep good tactics.
