Freddo I think you mixed up 2016 and 2017 for number of congregations.

Gayle: Do I understand correctly, on this new Service Report, are Aux. Pios. & Reg. Pios. combined?ned?

No. Only regular pioneers (and I suspect special pioneers) - NOT auxiliary pioneers.

You can confirm that if you compare the total at the bottom of the table with the Grand Totals here:

Watchtower Releases 2017 Grand Total Figures

I understand from looking at the figures from last year, that the Pioneer numbers in the above 2017 Service Year Report do not include auxiliary pioneers, but only include regular pioneers (and I suspect special pioneers too)

It strikes me once again that two of the countries with the strongest growth, Brazil and Angola, are both Portuguese speaking countries. I wonder if there is any reason for that. Portugal itself is also growing, in contrast to most of Europe.

You cannot consider a real growth in Portugal, on the last few years Portugal are decreasing the numbers/having an anemic growth. It follows the trends of the general Europe where all the major countries are stagnanting

About the Brazil, it is a very peculiar country and very proficuous to all of Christian sects and evangelical movements (see the news about some of Christian political candidates)

About the African countries, unfortunately they aren’t fully developed countries with high poverty and illiteracy rates and whe all know that was a perfect territory for the Jdubs “harvest” more followers

It seems very strange to me that Watchtower have not posted the average publishers for each country. Surely they know that the figure is more accurate than peak publishers which they have shown.

Also what is going on with USA?

    2016 PEAK PUBLISHERS 1,231,609

    2017 PEAK PUBLISHERS 1,232,293

THIS WORKS OUT AT 0.1% NOT 1%

    PDF: https://download-a.akamaihd.net/files/media_books/c4/syr17_E.pdf

Is this table available anywhere as a spreadsheet? So much easier for manipulating data than pdf.

    Many thanks

    @ George

    You can do that yourself.

    - Open the sysr17_E.pdf with Microsoft Word.

    - Copy the data-tables into Microsoft Excel.

Many thanks for that though it wouldn't work for me, maybe my old software. However, I did an online convert from pdf to xls and that worked. Thanks again.

I've checked, and it appears that for the % increase/decrease, the WT is actually using the 'Average Publisher' numbers rather than the 'Peak Publisher' numbers.
