Our old cat

I wish there was film in my camera for one last photo of our cat, Tiffany. We got her almost 18 years ago, when our youngest was in Kindergarten. Now he's married. The last few months she has been very sick and s he has been crying really loud, so we think she was in terrible pain.............and throwing up several times a day and pooping anywhere she happened to be. She was either losing her sight or just all control.

We made the decision to euthanize her and I just returned from dropping her off. It was a really hard decision to make, but she didn't fight me when I put her in the carrier. Usually she is fighting and crying, but she was very passive this morning. Earlier she had jumped onto my lap and just looked at me, purring, and lay down and fell asleep. I almost changed my mind, but realized there won't be a good time to do this. She was a nice cat, and we will all miss her. Well.............Zoe (my 4 year old grand daughter) won't. For some reason she was very afraid of her.

If I find a photo anywhere, I'll post it.

I am so sorry. I can't even think about me experiencing this yet. I know I will someday, but I just can't think about it now.

We got two cats, that day, Tiffany and Buckwheat (not from same litter). Buckwheat was Rachel's (Princess) black cat, but she got a kidney disease common to Siamese (she was an all black Siamese) cats and we had her put to sleep in 1997, and that was really hard too. Tiffany looked for her for days.

I just finished cleaning up all her things, and have them in the front yard, with a "FREE" sign. I'm sure someone will pick them up soon. They always do. It's just so sad...............I love animals but am not overly sentimental about them. This was much harder than I expected.

We also have an old dog, Jenny. She'll be next I guess. She is 12 I think.

One bit of humor............our eldest son married a girl named Tiffany. I emailed her this morning about having "Tiffany euthanized." Have to laugh somewhere today.

I'm so sorry about your kitty, sweetie. I'm a bigtime cat person even though I can't have one anymore :(

My hubby's childhood kitty died last summer, he was 18. He died while my in-laws were abroad, and they felt so bad about it. He was nothing but skin and bones at that point, poor little guy. They have a kitten now and they're not used to having such an energetic baby in the house!

my family cat passed on a few years ago and i still miss him...

(((((((((((((Mulan)))))))))))) another hug, just cause I know what it's like to lose a pet close to you and I am so sad that you had to let her go. But you really did the most loving thing you could have...

    all my love,

    Essie

    Mulan,

Sorry about your moggy. We also had a cat for 18 years, Cindy, and would come downstairs every morning almost hoping that she had died in the night, so ill did she become. Eventually we had her put down at the Vets, it was very choking for all of us.

    She was a nice cat.

    My condolences.

    Mike.

Aww, poor Tiffy. Such a sweetheart, I remember the first night we had Tif and Buckwheat. They kept me up all night playing on my bed while I was trying to sleep.

She had a long and happy life and it was time. She was never quite the same after Buckwheat died, of course she was pretty old even then.

Sorry you had to do it mom. (((((Mom)))))

    Mulan,

When I had to let my kitty go, the comfort I got was in remembering how happy I made him, and he made me. We used to "talk" and even "argue". My mom would say it was scary the way we would go back and forth, but I loved every minute of it. He will live in my heart forever, and Tiffany will live in yours. Big hugs,

    Happyout

So many years with an animal is like losing a close friend. Sorry about that...
