((((Mulan)))) It is just gut wrenching to lose a "family member." Our cat still has some mileage left on him and I hope he lasts 'til armageddon. That was a figure of speech, btw. I don't want to see him pass on THAT SOON. You know, in the next couple of years...

So sorry Mulan. We had to put down our dog about a year ago, he was 16 years old and was very sick near the end. It is heartbreaking to lose a faithful and devoted family pet. The house seemed so empty when he was gone. If there is a doggy or kitty heaven somewhere, I am sure that they will be there....

Sorry to hear about Tiffany. My cat had similar problems but got hit by a car before I had to make the decision to put her down ... But I recently had to euthanize our dog and its very difficult. If Tiffany was complacent about the carrier, trust that she was ready. Trust, too, that she trusted you to know when she could bear no more.

    More hugs,

I am SO sorry you had to go through that. I fear we may be facing that soon with our dog, Maggie. The cats should have quite a few years left in them, I hope! Kisses to you sweetie.

aww sorry to hear this Mulan, it was the the best thing to do under the circumstances. I have taken 2 cats to be put down over the last few years and its a very quick and painless procedure, one was 22 yrs old name *Smut*, a huge tom cat that was as thick as 2 short planks, it was hard to let him go but far better than suffering everyday.

I'm very sorry to hear this Mulan. We've got a basset hound named Dexter who will be 12 in a couple of months. We were told bassets don't often live past 10, so every year we're grateful he is still around.

It really is like losing a member of your family.

All I can do is echo the thoughts of the other posters so far. Sorry for your loss but I know you've got lots of happy memories of Tiff. :)
I'm kinda shocked at all the long lived cats I've been reading about on here. I thought that a cat's "generation" was only about 8 or 9 years. Maybe that's just how long they could stand living with us! My mother has a cat that is 19 years old as near as I can reckon. She's showing her age now but still just as "Nervy" as ever.

Thanks everyone. It's been a weepy day. Mom cried a lot too. She was a sweet kitty and so affectionate. I will miss her on my lap while I watched TV............she was a cuddler, even more so as she got sicker.

When Dave picked her up, to bury her next to the other cat today, the box we had left for the vet to put her in, had a sticker on it with her name and our last name................the same name as our daughter in law. It was an odd feeling seeing that...............added some humor to it all.

It's just so final....................all her things that I put in the front yard earlier today, are gone. Some other kitty will use them now. I didn't see who picked them up, but heard children and a car door.
