…the WTS is on such financially shaky ground that the loss of said benefits actually will significantly hamper the Org’s ability to function.
From their POV, that probably would negatively impact their “freedom to practice”.

JWs are told to shun by their leaders. It is not simply a case of
individual members(sorry… those in the congregation 😂) wanting to shun their friends and family members. -

It's all about the money and their public image. The WT board does not care the least about the well being or thoughts/opinions of their members. WT can continue practicing their religious beliefs but without any grants from the tax payers. Those are the rules of the games. In contrast to their own policies, the court is offering the option to express your views and they will listen.

They are mandated to shun ALL disassociated, disfellowshipped or marked baptised Jehovah's witnesses. This includes all baptised minors. Even family members. There are articles featuring parents refusing to eat with their children in their own homes.
Social exclusion or shunning of minors is deemed child abuse by the Norwegian government. Therefore Watchtower and Jehovah's witness congregations are breaking the rules the Norwegian government stipulate must be adhered to in order to qualify for registration as an officially sanctioned religion and therefore the government hand-outs. There is no ruling on Witnesses not being able to practice their religion as they see fit.
