    Keep Walking by Faith

A brother with a hard hat and work clothes being escorted into a vacant office by his supervisor. The supervisor is offering him a promotion.

7 Note how Javier, a brother in South America, saw the need to walk by faith. He says: “I had applied for a prestigious job that would double my salary and provide considerable personal satisfaction.” However, Javier had the deep desire to pioneer. He continues: “I was recommended for an interview with the national manager. Before the interview, I prayed for help, convinced that Jehovah knew what was best for me. I wanted to progress professionally, but I did not want this job if it would not help me reach my spiritual goals.”

8 Javier relates: “During the interview, the manager told me that I would regularly have to work overtime. I kindly pointed out that I couldn’t do that because of my ministry.” Yes, Javier rejected the offer. Two weeks later, he started pioneering. And later that year, he found a part-time job. He says: “Jehovah heard my prayers and provided a job that fit my pioneer schedule. I am truly happy to have work that allows me to dedicate more time to serve Jehovah and my brothers.”

Javier has a big dilemma in his hands. He is recommended for a promotion that would double his salary and give him more satisfaction. He needs the promotion, but the promotion might interfere with his spiritual goals and spiritual health. He rejects the offer because he would miss some ministry work because of the overtime the job requires.

So, who does Javier turn to for job opportunities? Does he network? Does he look for jobs on Monster or Indeed? Nope! He prays to Jehovah. Javier's prayer probably sounded like this: "Jehovah, I need to get a new job soon! Please open doors for me to get a good job offer soon, with the type of work that lets me fit my pioneer schedule so I can serve you and serve my brothers.''

With so many job opportunities Jehovah could provide Javier, Javier's job prospects come down to a measly part-time job! The only one benefitting from Javier's job demotion was the Watchtower Society... Free labor!

My wife and I did the Javier thing about 40 years ago. We 'listened and obeyed.' We worked our asses off serving the org full time and did grueling part time labor to support ourselves - for decades. The slave we obeyed might have been faithful, but it damned sure wasn't discreet. We will now have to work until we drop dead. It's not easy to get a good job at 65ish when you're competing with 25-year-olds. My wife found out yesterday that she's losing her job of 16 years because the work is being sent overseas (India).

We have deep fury and even hatred in our bones for the GB members and the org. I cannot conceive of how the org can still be telling people, especially younger ones, to live like that. The GB members were deceptive morons back when we started serving the org fulltime (80's), but I at least think they really thought the end was imminent back then. It is, to me, much more reprehensible to be telling young ones now to not plan financially for the future. It's 20-damned-25!!! ... thirty years since the "generation" doctine change in 1995 and 50 years since 1975! It's 25 years since the turn of the century, beyond which it was inconceivable that "this system" would still be here. The org has been wrong in all its predictions. How can it still be effing with people's futures? It's effed up enough of them already.

Jehovah heard my prayers and provided a job that fit my pioneer schedule.

...meanwhile, there's horror, sickness, suffering, and misery going on all over the world. Jehovah can watch all that and not do a thing. He can file away all the screams, moans, tears, beggings, etc, but oh, wait... Javier needs a part-time job? Let's get on it. Jehovah's gonna make sure he gets Javier a measly part-time job. Gotta get Javier out there warning* the world of a mass destruction that's over a century late.

*Well, not really warning; just pointing people to a lame, fluff-filled website.

Javier now works for a brother who exploits him whilst bragging about how he enables pioneers. Guess who takes the cruises?

Let's see how ole Javier is gonna feel about that part-time job in three or four decades.

It's awful to read the story without the JW blinders on. This fellow passed up a good job with a good salary and feels blessed that he ended up with a part-time job, instead. What about his future, and the future of his family? No doubt he feels that this is not an issue, as the world will end before he has to worry about it.

Where will he be in 30 years? Hoping to hang on financially just a bit longer because he just knows that the end is very near? Bemoaning the fact that he hasn't talked to his successful children about moving in with them because they left the truth and got tired of being preached to all the time? Looking for ways to cook pigeons because he can't afford groceries? STAY TUNED!

Javier said: “Jehovah heard my prayers and provided a job that fit my pioneer schedule.''

Jehovah answered Javier's prayer with a part-time job. In the meantime, Jehovah never answered the prayers from humans who were suffering from droughts, famine, diseases, earthquakes, poverty, violence, human slavery, war, child labor, etc. etc.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought there was no more door to door work. I never see JW's anywhere. How the hell does one pioneer these days? Such a waste of time.

    RULES & REGULATIONS:

I refuse to believe any such God answers prayers like this regarding human beings’ desires and vanities.. As has been pointed out: why would any God not answer the prayers of the millions suffering all over the world??

    MAGNUM:

I am sorry about your wife losing her job! I hope something else comes up for her.

You made a good point that years ago the religion really believed the End was imminent! They are much more reprehensible now in 2025 still preaching the same damaging shit. I don’t blame you for hating their f#cking guts! I never got a chance to tell off the sons-of-bitches who condemned me for not quitting a full-time job. They made sure I was treated like Typhoid Mary because I wasn’t pioneering and doing the ‘approved’ housecleaning.. I am so Grateful today I never listened to any of them!

I would have loved to rub it in these false prophets’ faces like a dog with its poop.. But, these SOBs have all died and gone to their graves after living cushy lives - unlike many of their followers who are suffering today.😞

So far, there has been No justice for this! Will there ever be???

Sadly, Javier is codependent with his need for "spiritual" (cough) goals. He wanted to pioneer and only work part time, he got it. There are plenty of companies that only want part time workers.

And the writers at the corporation advising him on his life choices when they have every need cared for...grrrr.

Also consider that most of these men have never lived in the “real world” in which you and I live. Yet, they are making decisions for and controlling the lives of some 7 million JW’s. Most of these men have never had to work an actual job to support themselves or a family, neither have they had to pay for housing. Living at the Watchtower provides them with free room and board, their meals are prepared, they have someone to do their laundry for them, do their dishes, put out the trash and clean their rooms. The list goes on and on. While they have taken a “vow of poverty” the infamous “green handshake,” the good ol’ tax free cash-ola which uncle Sam never hears about provides very well for the men of the GB, not to mention the brothers who are in the Circuit and District work. All of this is provided at the expense of the rank and file JW which is consistently told to work less and do more and more for the organization. The economy in which you and I live, in many ways has no effect on the daily lives of the GB whatsoever because their resources are virtually unlimited.
