  Both Russia and China are lying a lot about the numbers. They're a dictatorship after all, having panic is dangerous for their rulers. The rate of recovery in China is amazing and the fact there are NO new cases is a miracle, it's almost as if they're cooking the numbers. Korea is seeing a resurgence in cases though.

  As far as the map, the aggregation happens differently in the US now than elsewhere. Most countries and initially even states in the US were aggregated. Now they're splitting them up more and more if their local government does, the US has data down to zip code. Given the red circles aren't linear in size, it makes it look like the US is a terrible place but if you zoom, there's less than a handful cases in each instance. My zip code has <5 cases.

  The spread and death rate in the US is actually an outlier - more people have it but fewer than 1% are dying. In Italy death rates are now at 10%. There is a difference somewhere there in healthcare methods and quality. Even the difference between CA and NY and the rest of the country is telling how well socialist healthcare is doing vs privatized healthcare.

  Interesting article here in the Miami Herald about how China now makes so much of our pharmaceutical drugs and machines.

  Puerto Rico (America) was a mass producer of all of these products until the late 1990's when their beneficial financial treatment was phased out over a 10 year period. A bi-partisan agreement was reached between a Republican House, a Republican Senate and signed by Democrat Bill Clinton.

  By 2008, there was no longer an incentive for companies to manufacture here in the US (ok, PR is a US Territory) and due to the almighty dollar, moved the manufacturing to China where is was less expensive and regulations were lower if existent at all. Basically, PR went into a recession and has not really come out of it since (true, the hurricane screwed things up too).

  In any case, manufacturing that was under FDA and EPA regulations was moved to some place behind a chicken market in China.

  Thank you politicians and big pharma, thank you.

  This is why Trump's position of wanting US companies to decouple from China has been prescient.

  You are not secure if vital supply chain is controlled by a foreign power, even if they are mostly an ally but definitely if they are an enemy.

  In case anyone didn't get the memo, China is not our friend - they are an anathema to civilization and should be treated as the plague creating, human and animal rights abusing, environmental destroying , illegal drug pushing enemy that they are.

  We have the power - don't buy anything from Chinese companies or from companies that chose to outsource to China.

  Bankrupt the dirty bastards.

  One thing I forgot to mention, when you go shopping you don't want to be using cash, which is dirty anyway and especially now many countries have the plastic / polymer bank-notes which may spread the virus.

  You also don't really want to be touching shared things, such as payment machines.

  One way to avoid doing this is to setup contactless payment on your phone using Apple Pay or Google Pay. That way you only ever touch your own device and just have to hold it close to the maybe machine.

  Something to think about to help reduce a risk vector.

  Yes, our politicians screwed us - all in the name of the almighty dollar. Too bad nobody had a crystal ball.

  Somebody who wanted to sabotage us couldn’t have planned this better if they tried. They created the ‘perfect storm’.

  Let’s hope this is a lesson learned forever (but sadly with too many victims).. Let’s hope that manufacturing of medical supplies and drugs comes back to the US - or at least in this hemisphere! And let’s pray they get some kind of vaccine soon.

  We have the power - don't buy anything from Chinese companies or from companies that chose to outsource to China.

  That is easier said than done. I was in Home Depot (not some mom and pop hardware store) with a friend a few months ago and when we were looking at all of the tools they sell, from major name brands, virtually everything comes from China or Taiwan. Try to find an American-made anything that has a power cord.

  Go to places like Walmart, Harbor Freight, Northern Tool or many other places and if they took all of the Made in China stuff off the shelves there would be very little to buy. Try to buy small appliances here (toasters, blenders, irons, etc.) and good luck finding anything made in the USA.

  I know it's very sad. Even for people who sincerely want to buy made in the USA it is really a challenge and for some products, impossible in the current situation.

  Manufacturers and politicians have sold us out.

  Very informative video about virus growth and how to tell whether we're beating it or not.

  This is the kind of thing that should be on national TV, but instead they just want drama - either "Dr disagrees with Trump!" or a headline number of deaths. They are failing us and I hope they fail off into oblivion.

  It seems just like yesterday when we were blowing past 500k confirmed cases ... now we just went past 600k

  The death count in Italy is past 10k

  People under 40 make up one third of all hospitalizations.

  Stay safe people.
