Why doesn't she just wear a transparent veil?

    LOL!!!

Here in middle America we have a large Muslim population....the veils are everywhere.

Frankly, I want to run up, rip off the veil and tell these women to take control of their lives.

At a major *fashion* mall 2 weeks ago, as I was signing people up for the breast cancer run/walk, I noticed an inordinate number of veiled women with their unveiled men.

WTF are they doing in a fashion mall known for Saks Fifth Avenue, Lord & Taylor and similar stores? What is under the veil?

I see the veil as a symbol of oppression. Saying it is for religion is BS. The men want to control the women and the women, who have been beaten down for centuries, are willing to be in subjection to these men.

Does anyone see a pattern similar to WTBTS?

The women who come here from the middle east are so down trodden it is truely sad.

When I lived in Wichita, Kansas, there was also many people from Pakistan. Wichita State University does heavy recruiting from Pakistan for their engineering programs. Guess what? None of the women who I worked with, who were Muslims, wore veils. Of any kind. They wore normal business clothing.

This woman should give up her veil for driving and for her photo. As noted above, you cannot see proplerly while wearing a veil. If she insists on wearing the veil, she should give up her right to drive.

The crime issue is also of concern. If no one except her husband knows what she looks like, she could sneak out, committ a crime, sneak back and who could identify her? Her husband?

You misunderstand Islam. Most women wear the veil, not because of subjection to their husband, but because they strongly believe they are doing it for God.

Freeman claims her religious beliefs require her to keep her head and face covered out of modesty and that her faith prohibits her face from being photographed.

BULLSHIT. Muslim women are on the news all the time....without full face covering. If the news crews who are Muslim countries can photograph these women, this woman is blowing smoke. She has an agenda. And it is not religious freedom.

The idea of an American woman subjecting herself to this is unbelievable. There are many here who are obviously blond and from the USA who knowingly put on a veil when they get married to some hairy bastard from the middle east. Stupid. They are setting back women's rights.

OTOH, if you are having a bad hair day, feel bloated, ate too much the night before, etc. the veil could work. I wonder I anyone can wear them?

    Yeah, right.

When your father or husband says he is going to put his fist through your face if you don't wear one, you put the goddamn thing on. Period.

Try walking around with a black sheet over your body, with clothing underneath, in the hot sun and tell me they enjoy it.

What about Muslim converts who have neither a husband or father In the same faith. Believe it or not, there are many.

Remember, not all muslims are covered from head to toe. It does seem to be a bit oppressive to me; but If the converts are doing it also, why stress?

One would think that this would be a concern for her too - that someone wearing a veil would commit a crime and then she would be wrongly accused of a crime she didn't commit. Is her "religious freedom" worth that?

Hamas, that is the issue. If some don't and some do veil, who is right? Which Allah says it is right or wrong?

Do all JWs refuse blood? Yes.

Do all Muslim women wear veils? No.

End of lawsuit. The judge can point to those that don't as an example of why she should have to remove the veil for any privileges.

Again, why any woman, raised in a free country (USA, Canada, Britian, etc) willingly join a repressive faith, that is worse than the dubs, is stupid. Why give up your rights? Oh, yeah, God.

Those woman need to be spirited away to a deprogramming camp.

If the courts allow muslim women (they shouldn't wear veils.. arab women are really rather pretty, sometimes) then next sikhs will wear turbans in their liscence photos, and Church of Subgenius members will wear Arnold Palmer golf hats.

I live in Orlando, and this story is HUGE news down here.

I absolutely agree with Yeru. Driving is a privilege, and this woman MUST conform to the laws of the land and expose her face if she wishes to get a driver's license.

If by some insane reason she won her case it would establish a DISASTROUS precedence for others whom would use this as an opportunity to conceal themselves while committing despicable acts.

What most of you do not know, and was just in a big expose on the news last night here in Orlando, is that this very same woman was arrested two years ago for domestic battery and her mugshot picture at the prison had no veil. So what's the problem here? She feels her religious beliefs are being violated? Fine. You don't get a license.

It is highly speculated she is doing this for the attention.
